President Obama has stated in interview that any assault weapons ban would be much more comprehensive than the last time. And yeah.

Quote: "take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics."
----------
President Barack Obama could take up to 19 executive actions on gun control, as part of a comprehensive plan to reduce gun violence expected to be announced Wednesday, according to multiple news reports.

The White House's plan calls for an assault weapons ban, universal background checks and sets limits on the number of bullets magazines can hold, according to the Washington Post.

It also lays out the possible actions the president could take without Congressional approval, including imposing new limits on guns imported from overseas, requiring federal agencies to improve the sharing of mental health records, directing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct research on gun violence, and strengthening enforcement of existing laws, the New York Times reports.

A task force led by Vice President Joe Biden developed the proposals after meeting with a range of experts and interest groups including gun rights supporters, law enforcement officials, mental health experts, gun safety advocates, members of the entertainment and video game industries, representatives from major firearms sellers like Wal-Mart, and victims of gun violence.

After last month's mass-shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., Obama promised to "take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics."

Washington (CNN)- President Barack Obama will announce “concrete” proposals to prevent gun violence at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Press Secretary Jay Carney said Tuesday.

He will be joined by Vice President Joe Biden who led the administration's efforts to determine policy steps to take. Obama said Monday he was reviewing Biden's proposals.

"They will be joined by children from around the country who wrote the president letters in the wake of that tragedy expressing their concerns about gun violence and school safety along with their parents," Carney said.

Carney declined to provide details about what the proposals will include but said Obama "intends to take a comprehensive approach," including renewal of the assault weapons ban which expired after ten years in 2004, a ban of high-capacity gun magazines and closing background check loopholes.

Texas Proposal: JAIL Any Federal Officials Trying to Enforce New Gun Restrictions in the State
(1200 WOAI) A Texas lawmaker says he plans to file the Firearms Protection Act, which would make any federal laws that may be passed by Congress or imposed by Presidential order which would ban or restrict ownership of semi-automatic firearms or limit the size of gun magazines illegal in the state, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Republican Rep. Steve Toth sayshis measure also calls for felony criminal charges to be filed against any federal official who tries to enforce the rule in the state.

"If a federal official comes into the state of Texas to enforce the federal executive order, that person is subject to criminal prosecution," Toth told 1200 WOAI's Joe Pags Tuesday. He says his bill would make attempting to enforce a federal gun ban in Texas punishable by a $50,000 fine and up to five years in prison.

He's a tad bit late for that because since 1968 there is a book that's since been filled with banned weaponry that is 2" thick.

BAAA HAAAA HAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!

"State" Representative Steve Toth (R-TX)

You should write him an e-mail and tell him the last time a state government met face to face (literally) with the Feds, was in Little Rock, Arkansas and the Feds were the clear undisputed winners.

The law they are proposing is not yet a law. And it probably wont be. Regardless.....it wont ever trump federal law.

I see. So, if I acquire me a Colorado drivers license to prove I'm from a legalized marijuana state, I can walk right in to a fedreal courthouse packing a sack of weed and there isn't a thing they can do, right?

exploiting kids?!? How low can the POTUS go? Reminds me of the terrorist in the middle east. They bomb and bomb and bomb and bomb and bomb Israel. When Israel gets tired of the bombings and strike back the terrorist hide behind women and children. The POTUS is basically doing the same thing. Hiding behind children to attempt to get his way.

Also the irony, the POTUS is going to give 19 reasons to take away legal citizens guns who do not live a life of crime while the POTUS is being protect by the same guns he wants illegal.

Kids who will attend tomorrows announcement with the President each previously wrote letters to the President asking him to stop school shootings.

I would call them the voice of the children, especially those 20 who were slaughtered by the NRA fan.

You want to shut them up, do you?

Children can speak out, but of course you know just as well as I that this is a setup to exploit children in order for the POTUS to gain more power. I really do hope he tries to pull a executive order on this which will make him vulnerable to impeachment. Also,

Well now, the kids who wrote letters to the POTUS asking him to not take away freedoms from legal American citizens. Do they get a voice? Will the POTUS listen to them. Course not, this is about the rise of power and not the safety of children. This is in fact communism 101 which is pull on the heart strings of the people to gain more power over them.

Tyranny? What tyranny? Do you think wanting to ban some of the semi-automatic weapons in this country is tyranny? Are you serious?

Do explain.

Yes, I am serious. You want to live in tyranny. You want the government to take away yet another right of law abiding citizens. Banning semi-automatic weapons will not stop criminals from getting them, but it will stop law abiding citizens having the right to own semi-automatic weapons to protect themselves from gun baring criminals. It makes the the law abiding citizen more dependent on government and less free to depend on themselves. And as you know first it's semi-automatic then next is revolvers and eventually all guns. As the average liberal would say, one step at a time then eventually the government will control all.
