Bob Troutt-Sage Meadows

I have lived out in Sage for years now. I love the people and the events that take place. Last night was the annual Halloween Party for the Children. It was wonderful as is the other events that take place out there. My wife and I decided to move out there for multiple reasons. 1. It is Safe. 2. It is very family oriented. 3. The golf and pool are great in the summer. Keep in mind every resident pays a very small fee to use the pool, playground, tennis courts, and help maintain the common areas. This fee is very reasonable for what is offered. Keep in mind these areas are controlled by the POA. Not Bob! All of these areas’s are looking and running fine. I guess my main issue with the whole situation is Bob is not a true business man or a leader. The leadership must come from the top. If something is not correct then the leader must point it out. If his employees are not getting the job done, then get rid of them. Everyone’s job is to help add revenue including making leadership decisions. Bob is clearly not a leader! I encourage anyone right now to head that way and look at the place. The bar is almost always dirty, the bathroom may or may not be clean (along with no Tee-Pee in the Stalls-Ladies Room), there will be a ton of tables still on the balcony, the pro shop can not order anything, they may be out of a certain food item, and the list can go on for ever. I guess my main point is yes the economy is bad. I agree with that! But everything that I stated has been going on for many years and will continue. How do you sell a place that looks like that? Sage has a lot of great people that live out there and great employees. Bob has poorly managed Sage which has brought it down. You have to lead by example. He has not! Sage is a reflection of him and needs to be changed.

I live in the Sage community as well and completely agree with the above! The clubhouse always looks like trash...cigarette butts everywhere, always low on food, and as a toilet paper in bathroom. As i travel to work every day I see Bob on the way to Sage and usually again on the way home. Which means he is seeing the trash and not doing anything about it. If you clean it maybe you could sell it to someone who will keep it serviced better.

Sage Meadows will be closing by the end of the year. Bob does not have enough money to pay the bank. It has been brought up that the residents can pay $5K (or more) each to purchase it, but that does not cover the cost to run the course.

If somebody would clean up the Clubhouse, it could be a goldmine for business. All the people that live out there wouldnt have to drive into town to get something to eat. I wish I had the money to do it.

All the residents had someone to come by and give us some paper work this weekend. A class at ASU is studying Sage and making suggestions about what should happen to it. Not everyone out here can afford to give a couple thousand dollars in POA dues for others to use the course. I just hope we figure out what's going to happen to it soon. The houses are still very nice and the neighbors are good people regardless of what happens to the course.

It would be nice if ASU could buy Sage and make it a university course. I know of several universities that have golf courses. Just a thought.

Amen,I live in Sage as well and it sounds like all the property owners agree,Bob Troutt needs to go.He clearly has mis managed this potentially great devolpment and golf course that we all have bought in to.

Why did he build in RidgePointe instead of Sage?
Good question. I have wondered this for some time.

Anyone notice how many houses are for sale in Sage? They all know it is time to get out!

I hate to hear all this. I play out there often and Jonesboro just can't keep a golf course open. What a shame. The homes are reasonably priced, and I wished the course was on the south side of town instead of north, just for travel reasons, and my current home location. But how can Ridgepoint charge what they charge for golf and club use, and still make ends meet? One would think that would have been the way to go, but I guess there is only so many wealthy people in town and Ridgepoint takes the lions share.

The last time I saw Ed......he was having difficulty recognizing who I was...even when I mentioned my name.....we went to school together had the same friends.....and I was well known in those days....he didnt have a clue who I was...strange. On the other hand, Bob always seemed level headed and nice guy and a trustworthy guy. To an extent, we all look out for ourselves so I dont blame people for doing' s natural. The Troutt family for better or for worse are built into the fiber of that small town, yet realistically.....they ran a better newspaper than they run golfcourses or other endeavors. Ive been a member of many country clubs and I can tell you that almost none of them make any profits.....I just can't imagine starting one up unless you really liked golf and saw it only as an expensive hobby. I blame Bob and crew only for jumping into a tough business. Nothing wrong with ambition.......

I know Bob and feel he does have people's best interest in mind. The golf course business is tough. Inputs are high and fees can't support. There are not enough homes in Sage. He is doing the best he can and fuel, equipment, labor, water, electricity, carts, all are higher.

If you have a problem, as others have said, discuss it with him. At worst, list your specific grievance here and talk about the issues, not the person.

These rumors have been going on for years, ever since it was built it seems. Somehow it just keeps going. And how does keeping the clubhouse not being clean keep someone from buying it? Usually, businesses or properties that need to be bought are in disrepair...I think the economy and the price are probably bigger factors than some cigarette butts. It's a great course, nice houses, and I'd hate to see something bad happen to it. Bob's a nice enough guy, but I wouldn't call him trustworthy.
As for Ridgepointe, they survive because they are now owned by Wallace Fowler. Bob Troutt is no Wallace Fowler...I don't see Mr.Fowler's name on any real estate signs around town.

I agree with Spike,Bob has had several offers on Sage but for some reason will not sell.We that live out here have had several discussions/suggestions of how we could help or ideas that he always shoots down and has even told members if they do not like the way things are go some where else. That attitude is exactly what has brought him to the place he is now and us as homeowners as well that are going to lose property/house values.I wish Wallace would buy it.
