Friends from Wynne said the Trail kid is a decent player but nothing special. His parents evidently dropped some money into the Wynne ball program so junior could start as qb and now they said hes moved to some school in Mississippi that needed the money more. Wingo is supposed to be a solid player who needs some seasoning but has potential.

I'm not trying to sound skeptical, but isn't he a senior next year? How much seasoning does a player need before he becomes a solid player? Arkansas doesn't take a liking to a sophomore who's just a decent player either. Read the articles.

Your facts are exactly that, facts. Ross Trail went to Olive Branch which leaves Wynne up shat creek. Sounds a town full of sell outs!!

The coaches are perfectly capable of picking the best QB. Let's let them do their job and quit speculating. Wait and see.

Saw Trail and Wingo both play last year in state semis against Camden Fairview (they won it all). There is no comparison. Trail is clearly the better QB and has a much better arm. If the Wynne coach had gone to him earlier he would've won the game. Wingo is a good HS QB, but he has no future at the position, he's too short and doesn't have a great arm. He's good in the spread, but not so hot on the deep ball. If Trail continues to develop he looked like the real deal.

BTW, glad to see Coleman recruiting other schools.

Why would a player transfer to a school with an established starter? I don't think I'd call that the coach recruiting, that's the program recruiting.

Yea, I don't think the coaches called them. I'm pretty sure it was a parent who initiated this whole process. Don't forget these are baseball parents who always tend to be a bit aggressive and pushy with their kids.

Well, they haven't been happy with the baseball coach in Wynne for a few years, justified or not, I don't know. And you are correct about baseball parents, they'll spend more than a college education on travel teams trying to het little Johnny a scholarship to play college baseball. D-I schools have 11.7 scholarships to spread out over 25 players, with each getting a minimum of 25% of a scholarship, crazy.

When I was younger I would go and sit at those games, Joe Mack, or wherever, and it was INSANE! I was thinking, these people are completely outta control. Not for me!! I would speculate that 90% of parent altercations that are sports related happen at a baseball field.

I'm just going off what my Wynne friends said. The Trail parents apparently pissed off a lot of people in Wynne trying to insure the kid started and they had no clue why he went to another town but they were glad the parents were out of their football program. I gathered the Wingo kid's parents didn't think he was going to get a fair shake with the Trail parents squeezing the coach.

Didn't they come from Forest City, I seem to remember that's where the Dad played.

I know DJ Anderson is a hell of an athlete. He's probably more of a running back or receiver but how can you not have the ball in his hands on every play with that kind of talent. I thought they should have played Zack Brooks at QB a couple of years ago if he could have even thrown the ball a little. You want you beat players with the ball and DJ's defiantly proven himself.

Some were saying they were moving him before a QB transferred in, they wanted him at RB//WR. I can see it both ways, hopefully they have some more talent at RB/WR. He definitely needs to get the ball in space, I'm not sure he is big enough to be a RB in 7A/6A football. As far as Brooks, he should have stayed at WR his JR year and Stafford play RB instead of safety.

So why are you all scared to come to the border bowl if you're so good?

No one at Nettleton is afraid of the border bowl. There were alot of politics involved (such as Coleman recruiting players) and that is why that decision was made. I don't think Nettleton is trying to compete with Jonesboro. They are 5a and Jonesboro 6a. I just took the comment to mean that they are definately an up and coming team. They have a great group of kids coming up, and the program is changing. I don't really get why all local teams don't pull for one another if they are not in the same conference. I think it's great for all local teams to excel.
