I am moving to Jonesboro for an internship at St.B. However, I live 15 hours away and will not be able to come check out apartments before I make the move. I have read previous posts and I am interested in Dogwood estates off harrisburg. Also, I cannot find a listing for them online. Any input on this facility or a way to contact them?

Great area if you like breakins, even though it is gated. Check with the police dept.

I have lived in dogwood estates for over two years now and I can tell you it is a great place to live. There has never been a break-in since I have moved in to my knowledge. I see comments pertaining to one isolated incident that didn't even occur at this facility and I think that's not relevant to pursuade you away from these apartments. Break ins do happen in every city but I can tell you that there are no safer apartments to my knowledge. Stay away from the other side of town ( towards ASU.) Another positive thing about doogwood estates is the tenants. There are no rowdy college kides living here or no wild people partying late. The people that I have met are very nice. I do not have the managers phone number on me but I do know the email address is [email protected]

I recently moved into Dogwood Estates and can vouch that it is probably the best place to rent an apartment in Jonesboro. I looked EVERYWHERE! First off, the apartments are cute and actually have character (wood flooring in living room, vaulted ceilings, nice kitchen and bar). It is perfect for "settled" people, not really for a young college student. I'm 27 and recently divorced, so it's perfect for me. In the short time I have been here, I've felt very welcomed by neighbors. My neighbor has lived here since they were built and said they have never had any break-ins here at Dogwood. There are alot of other apartments in the area, so they could have been the ones that had the problems with break-ins.

We just moved our son into these apartments last weekend. We chose them because we felt like they are safe. I also spoke with a city police officer and he recommended them as being a safe place to live.

Who owns Dogwood Estates?

Didn't Beltz and Burrow buy them after that REES guy filed bankruptcy? David Rees used to own them. They were actually some of the most expensive apartments in this town three and a half years ago, I don't know about now. David owning them at the time and the "dogwood" name (which made me think of the branches used to torture Christ) made me think again and I passed on them.

Then I got "screwed" by a landlord anyway...go figure. I think it wise of all of you who are asking questions about prospective apartments. Some corporations in this town have leases that look like they were created by Hitler. There is one corporation in town that can be as bad as having one of those dreaded sub-prime loans, and it is just a glorified trailor (siding that flaps on a windy day, but without the luxury of space between you and at least one neighbor). Be cautious in renting in Jonesboro.

Oh okay, Burrow and someone took over much of the properties during David's 2nd to last stint on the wrong side of the law. Such as Pecan Grove Apartments. They were owned by him, but are now owned by Burrow/Halsey. I believe at some point Burrow and Beltz or Burrow and Halsey had the Dogwoods, you may be right, but I think it wasn't always so (This based upon driving by and seeing signs in the past). Who knows, most rental property owners around Jonesboro appear to have less than 6 degrees of separation between them. It gets confusing. What is really bad is that if one of them mess you over, their partner, cousin, brother, shareholder, sister's new bo, etc. may turn out to be the judge in the court room when you fight for your rights.

This town reminds me of "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" song. And yep, I do plan to get the heck out of dodge as soon as possible. Corrupt little city we live in. A few powerful back scratchers holding too powerful of positions. Too bad Alec Farmer isn't the new mayor. But who knows, people easily turn, once they are corrupted by those with money.

I am now stepping down from my soapbox:). Podem is yours.

I see comments are a few years old on this forum. I'm wondering if anyone has any info on these apartments now? Are they still nice and safe? Also, what school district are these apartments in?
