Im an ex-sales manager of an autodealership that went out of business. I was told thru a friend to check out startek. I completed an app online and it said the next phase was to come in for an assessment. I was just curious if anyone knew much about the place. Thanks for your assistance

It wasn't for me. I worked there awhile but quit. But you might like it though. You can always try it like I did.
I think they have a high turnover. Most call centers do.
Good luck.

there is another thread about startec somewhere on here, it was not too favorable. I'm not sure when the thread was started but I do know that there were postings on it last week so you might want to seek that out.

I went in for the assessment, and you are given test on computer programs, some of which you have never seen before with no instructions and expected to complete all task in 45 minutes.

You start out at 8.00 an hour, you go through 4 weeks of in class room training on the programs and policys. Then you have 5 weeks of assisted training on the phones taking calls after that pay raise of 8.25. This is for csm the lowest poistion at the place, there is a pay raise every 90 days for the first year of employment. After that it's yearly raises. Every other position is hired inside the company, there are alot of different positions avaible such as floor support M&P (Methods and Procedures) commitment team and quailty department which all start at 9.01. Supervisors is the only salary position that I know how much and that is 27 a year. There are lots of room to grow within the company if your willing to show up and do your job, show your interested and willing to work for your position and you'll go to the top fast. I was the first wave hired July 1rst and I've currently moved up once and offered two other positions but due to home situations declined. The HR departments works great with anyone and all of the supervisors and Operation Mangers are wonderful they work side by side with each agent and help to keep everyone happy on a one on one basis. This job is not for alot of people and I have see alot of people leave this job but for those that choose to stay and work through it 9/10 love their job.

I would not recommed this job to anyone. I worked there for a couple of months. I dreaded going to work every day. They change company rules and policies weekly, daily, I think they just make them up as they go. Unless you enjoy sitting at the phones all day long taking calls from irrate customers about their phone bills and problems, being fussed and cussed at, and being the cause of people using too many minutes on their phone and therefore their bill being too high, then go ahead, knock your self out! This company promises all these great promotions to every class that is in training, but only a very few people get those promotions. It might be for you, but it wasn't for me.

I have been at Startek since Sept. I love it! It can be challenging but it is worth it for the money & the rewards. I love helping people & talking to people. But, you are right not everyone can hack it. There are a lot of lazy people out there that are gripping about Startek. But, those are the people that didn't really care about their jobs to begin with. Every job out there isn't perfect. There are always people out there that don't care. But, from my own experience I believe that the majority of supervisors, etc. do really care. If you give 100% to your job they will give 100% to you. And, besides that at least I have a job. There are so many people out there that are getting laid off. It is sad really. Everyone that works at Startek or where ever should be happy that they are the lucky ones to still have jobs! Be thankful! I sure am! And, I make good money on top of that. And, Startek is still letting you do O/T. And, if you have to miss work because your kid is sick or whatever they let you make the time up. What company out there lets you make the money up when you are out or even cares if your kid is sick?
