No. It is another fee tacked on to the already overpriced (and probably incorrectly prepared) pizza. The delivery peeps get none of it.

And no, I have never delivered pizza. Yet.

shameful act of greed by restaurant owners.
drivers will stop getting tips and start looking for other jobs.
service will suffer and bad service leads to less business. less business means lower profits.
once again......
THE DOWNFALL OF ANY BUSINESS IS POOR MANAGEMENT.

You know, I always wonder why they charge a delivery fee, but never give it to the driver, but then say to tip their drivers. Its like a double tip. Where is the delivery fee going if not to the driver? Dominos charges a $2 delivery fee, but that makes the customers pissed and usually end up not tipping or giving very little to the driver. Why don't they just give it to the driver? The driver's get screwed both ways, plus end up paying for gas plus wear and tear on vehicle.

I worked at a place that charged a two dollar delivery fee. The driver received a dollar and the company received the other. It does not take the place of a tip. The dollar the company received went towards insurance costs and the added cost of delivery. Keep in mind that delivery drivers provide their own fuel for their vehicles and put miles on their own vehicles. Personally I don't think the pizza places give them enough reimbursement for those two items. That's why to me I tip drivers more than servers usually.

So if the delivery driver has a wreck while delivering pizzas, the pizza companies insurance pays for it?

the biggest waste in pizza delivery is when the drivers deadhead back to the store.
managers should arrange for drivers to pick up supplies after a delivery so they return with a load.

Some places pay the driver the fee according to how much the bill is ... Up to ten a dollar over 20 then 2 and so on.. Then that money covers gas and wear on car they say.. I remember someone ordering something that was 8 bucks and seeing a 50 cent fee from the business to the driver .. Pitiful .. But they got their hourly wage plus tips so ... It happens

If there is a delivery fee, I am not tipping. Sorry. I shouldn't have to pay both.

I still tip, it is not the drivers fault there is a delivery fee. the delivery fee is worth not having to drive across town in heavy traffic or when the weather is bad.

Taxicabs will deliver pizza. Bet ya didn't know that.

The Jets buses could earn some money by getting into the pizza delivery business. They are always saying how they don't have enough funds for that program! Problem solved. The pizza joints wouldn't have to hire drivers, etc.

Well the tip all depends on how much the delivery person gets paid. In Calgary, the pizza delivery guys get paid very well so they don't always expect a tip. http://www.chicagodeepdishpizza.com/en/about_...
