No matter what I do I can't seem to get any sleep. I've tried sleeping pills , prescription and over the counter. I've tried drinking hot totties warm milk and nothing seems to work. The most sleep I get is maybe 2 hours a day. Any ideas?

Perhaps your first stop should be a sleep study? They can give you an idea of what is happening and help you take some steps toward getting the REM sleep you need.

...just make sure you have the $1,200 to $1,400 minimum charge per night and expect at least 2 nights for evaluation. Then , the cost of the medical equipment you might need. If you are insured- congratulations!

Move your clock where you have to physically sit up to see it , seems most folks that have trouble sleeping end up looking st the clock and tracking how much sleep they're not getting . You might also try melatonin ,( not sure on the spelling of that ), get it at walmart in the vitamin section . Good luck and Sweet dreams !
Oh yeah ,,, saying my prayers ALWAYS puts me right to sleep!

I feel sorry for you wide awake, I have had the same problem for 20 years! I have tried everything you mentioned as well and nothing seems to work. Before my back pain got so bad, I would walk about 4 miles in an hour and that seemed to help me sleep but can't do that any more. Good luck, hope you find something that works for you!

Are you overweight? Do you think u have sleep apnea (a condition, typically in heavy snorers, where people experience brief episodes where they stop breathing that repeatedly wakes them up)? If so, put away the sleeping pills and start exercising and eating right. Join that beautiful new facility that St. Bernards just built. Burning off some epinephrine with a good workout may help you sleep at night.

I've had this problem to. Thought i was going to go crazy if i did not get just a few hours of sleep. Sometimes an illness can cause insomnia or stress. Have you seen a doctore to determine what might be the cause? I found out mine was stress related and am now on sleeping pills.

Had the same problem a few years back...The Doctor prescribed Ambien. It knocked me out for no more than 4 hours, then right back awake again. He then put me on Lunesta. Slept like a baby for 8 solid hours and woke up refreshed and ready to go. My job (55-70 hrs per week) combined with a stressful life did'nt help but Lunesta did. I no longer have insurance, so the Lunesta is no longer affordable. I have back pain as well and have found that Advil PM also helps me to sleep.

Magnesium is needed for over 300 body metabolisms. But the reason you can't sleep is because of all the poisons in your food, drinks and water. Taking fish oil will calm and soothe your brain. But with almost every food and drink product being saturated with poisons, how can any reasonable person even think they can be healthy in this sick country. And instead of taking chemicals(drugs), take melatonin or Valerian root to help you sleep. These are natural substances that your body puts to use. The drugs you get from doctors are never used by your body. Your body begins working to remove any and all drugs the minute you take them. Not so with natural substances.
