The King James version of the New Testament was completed in 1611 by 8 members of the Church of England.

There were, and still are, no original texts to translate. The oldest manuscripts we have were written down hundreds of years after the last apostle died. There are over 8,000 of these old manuscripts, with no two alike.

The King James translators used none of these, anyway. Instead, they edited previous translations to create a version their king and Parliament would approve.

So, 21st Century Christians believe the "Word of God" is a book edited in the 17th Century from 16th Century translations of 8,000 contradictory copies of 4th Century scrolls that claim to be copies of lost letters written in the 1st Century.

That's not faith. That's insanity.

It's simple really, if you aren't a believer then you believe ther is nothing after death and as such, you have no chance of getting into heaven, so what are your panties in a wad for? Why do you care what I believe except to argue.
As christians, we are criticized for talking to people about our faith and then you guys complain for someone in China that may not have heard the news. Better is he that has not heard than those that have and rejected...
Just because someone does not believe in god does not mean they dont believe in something after life, only a pretentious bitch as yourself would presume such a thing. And hey by the way you are on a forum "For he atheist" if you want to spread your diseases BS, go on a sit for he religious!

Sounds like you are finally right on the money... you cannot provide facts to base your views on and you try to pawn them off on others. No wonder you don't get along with anyone. You are a hipocrit.
pssss...pssssss..tell you a secret....I get along with plenty. Your jut pissed because what I said was right and you can't back it up with anything so you go to name calling and ask for facts when you yourself have none....well I can call names too!Ha!

I stand by my post here:
All people with this kind of thinking absolutely amaze me. Every religion thinks their God is the one true God and most religions believe that the others will burn in hell for eternity. So ludicrous. This group over here is going to hell but we're all going to walk down the streets of gold....streets of gold....that in itself is proof enough for me to show mans influence on the bible, I mean what is more valuable on earth than gold right, so heaven must be beaming with it! I guess its pointless to argue with people of faith, just as it is people of faith to try to make a believer out of a nonbeliever. So I guess we should all agree to disagree and not try to pawn off our beliefs on each other. That's what gets me the most, when someone tries to "convince" me when I can't be convinced by any means other than ......a miracle......

you say "agree to disagree" but you are trying to get the last word in. you can be an atheist and still accept religious people in spite of their beliefs. I am an atheist. when I am dead I am gone. that simple. I was raised as a christian and when i was olde enough decided what i believed. But just as I am entitled to believe that, it does not bother me if someone wants to post the ten commandments. they may come from the bible but they are good basic guidelines to live by. The founding fathers of this country quoted god and prayed in government meetings. It was obvious that they did not consider this a violation of church and state. for atheists to raise hell and file law suits over this is just a way to make people hate us. Live and let live means once in awhile people are gonna do something we don't agree with just like we are going to do something they don't agree with.
Instead of being pissed about a manger scene at Christmas try and have a holiday spirit of good will. It doesn't take anything from you. And when the Christians proselytize just blow it off. If atheists act hateful to christians how can we expect different from them?

Who said I was trying to pawn my beliefs on you? According to my faith, you are going to hell and according to your statements, you don't care. I am no more trying to convince you otherwise except to point out the hipocracy in the way you think that your views matter more than anyone elses.

Get over yourself, you are not as important as you think.

And call me a bitch all you want- it doesn't mean anything to me.

Hippocratic in the way I think, and where does that leave you? That's Hippocratic in and of itself. As for pawning your beliefs off on me...that is what you have been doing since you started posting on this forum, I'm simply pointing that out. Just go to a religious site and talk to religious folk, I'm here on an Atheist forum...not a religious one......if I really wanted to argue with someone religious wouldn't I be on a forum called "I believe in god?"
As far as considering myself important... you couldn't be farther from accurate in that assessment, i am simply a person among people, no better or worse that anyone else. Usually it is the religious folks that consider themselves better. And as for calling you a bitch....I was tying to make a point....who starter name calling in the first place, I was being ironically condescending. There was one of your posts that went as far as to saying you have no proof ect ect....this coming from a religious person is true irony. Unless of course you consider the Bible your proof, which was another point I was trying to make earlier about streets of gold in heaven.....what you said is " The point of so much 'gold' in heaven is that wealth is absolutely worthless.".....seriously ? My point was the influence of man on the Bible and their belief that heaven was lined with gold and that point being that man wrote the bible, this to me proves my point. Yes gold is useless, therefore why is heavens streets made of gold? According to you.... because its worthless? That makes no sense. But then again, most things in the bible are contradictions anyway so perhaps, in that, it does make sense. And last, that poor person in China that has never learned otherwise in which you simply blew off, is one of gods children just the same as everyone else, no less important as anyone else on the planet but yet gets to spend his/her eternity in fire and pain....torture and agony, suffering for all time...why? Because of where they were born and how they were raised.... I think that requires a bit more thought don't you? I never said "I don't care" that's the whole point, I do care.

Very well said. I am Christian, it is a personal choice. I'm not supposed to offend anyone with my faith, I should be so happy and helpful that people want to ask why. As an atheist, you might say that all humans should help each other and not hate..... the end result would be good from both sides.

Yes I supose I am trying to get in the last word, I'm glad you noticed. Guess that's what happens in an argument. We all have our weakness points and mine is someone trying to convince me of a hell. So now I can address your post since you felt inclined to drop in.
There are different types of Atheists, many unlike yourself. For instance : I believe Jesus Christ existed, I just don't believe he was the son of God because I don't believe in God the great Creator of the universe.
I believe in life after death, something more complex than anyone can understand with our simple minds. Not what I consider fantasy such as heaven but what happens to all creatures of earth when they die, definitely not a hell and the devil and fiery pits. And most definitely not ....nothingness.....as with everything in the universe, a natural flow to life and death. Not a penalty for those who don't say a certain thing or do a certain dance on a certain night when the moon is full (sarcasm just in case you don't get it)
And I Celebrate Christmas. If people want a plaque on a wall or Christmas tree in a school room I don't see why anyone would care, its not hurting anyone. And that is the main point I believe in peace among men and doing no harm to others.
But now if someone want to start an argument with me I am willing to argue if that's what is needed. I do believe in peace, but not at the cost of my beliefs. Not saying I waoukf start a war over something so frivolous, unless it infringed on my freedom, peace yes....coward, no. Yes it would be simpler to just say nothing as all t but hey, what's the fun in that? Lol
You have a good day.

The great thing about this debate is that here, in the REAL WORLD we live by the simple law that it takes EVIDENCE and PROOF to make something, anything to be a REAL thing.

The religious stand proud of their beliefs and their 'faith' yet NEVER, EVER, EVER, NEVER, NOT ONCE are they able to come up with ANY EVIDENCE to PROVE their outrageous claims of the divine.

Therefore, it is simple.

If something is REAL.....show us the evidence.

If you can not provide evidence of your claim then it is only logical and correct that your claim is false and a lie. Regardless of how much faith, belief or hope you may have in your claim.

TRUTH is the truth regardless of if we like it, want it, wish it or want to 'believe' it...The Truth is still the Truth because it is.

and there is No Truth in the divinity claims of ANY religion.

THIS is NOT my opinion...but a FACT.-- There is NO EVIDENCE for ANY god or gods, whatsoever.

END of Debate
