What gives anyone the impression the plant is shutting down? Have there been any layoffs? Lost time? Has Nestlé as a corporation EVER shut down a plant? Very curious because my husband works there.
Yes somethings going on, yes they have shut down older plants, they have layer people off, don't know about list time, but everyone will know today what is going on.

<quoted text>I do it by never being dumb and believing the anti-Truth, anti-Reality nonsense most users post on Topix. Topix is like a big christian church. They THINK their words change reality. But their words NEVER do. All sane people CAN do is learn the facts and quit whining because your OPINION is not fact or Truth.
Go put some more band aids on your forehead where you keep missing your mouth with your fork !
You just had to find a way to sneak in your idiotic views on people's religion. Whatever.
I would like to know if nestle is shutting down. That would hurt a lot of workers and impact the local economy.
As for water. Yes, it is a prescious commodity. There are cities in the north fighting over the use of water from the Great Lakes. Here is different. We do have dry spells, but they are always replenished with flash flooding rain. We are in no trouble of losing our water supply.

These plants use a lot of water during cleaning cycles. What this person fails to mention is that the majority of water is recycled back to the city and filtered to reuse back into the water supply

They're not shutting down, they are still taking apps for EPSU workers. I guess some people like to have fun, or create havoc.

Looks like a lot of maintenance guys and a few team leaders will be shed, no need for all the crews to offer 7 day a week 24hr coverage.

They've shut down plants in St Louis and Colorado. But made a $60 million expansion to the Jonesboro plant in 2008. So it doesn't make sense they would close it. Plus, the only reason they are in Jonesboro is because no other city would allow them to use the high volume of water they use. They use the same amount of water as every other business and every home combined.
Maybe no shutdown, but certainly a cutback. 70 jobs eliminated today. I too, wonder about cutbacks, after the expansion and new water well and treatment plant installation ( on Commerce Dr.) this year.

My husband keeps his job thank you Jesus and hallelujah!
At least for now...
But prayers go out to those families who are affected by the loss of their income and healthcare. 70 families. That's no small loss.
President Obama and 545 of his friends are to blame for this mess. This is the trickle-down effect of their idiocy.

They laid off 70 full time employees instead of laying off the part time or new hire employees and cut production from 6 days to 4.
