Wire or cable across the road? Did someone boobytrap the road? People don't realize how dangerous ATV's can be. ATV's are outlawed for road use for a reason. They are very few out there that ride respectfully and carefully. Most drive 80 mph and not look where they are going, do donuts in the road causing rocks and dust to go everywhere, or go mudding causing damage to someones field and ruining their ATV. ATV's are meant for fields and trails, but rarely get used there. People don't realize how dangerous until something like this happens, but will forget a month or two after it happens.
Totally agree. They do this all the time on the roads where we live.Someone is going to get killed here, too, just a matter of time! So sad for the family.

It used to bother me to see adults and kids racing around on them illegally and irresponsibly. They are a danger to themselves and others. And you really can't get past the ILLEGAL. They just want to do what they want to do. In Candlewood you'll see 5 or 7 kids hanging on to one ATV with it going as fast as it will move, no helmets, no nothing. Sometimes you'll see an adult illegally and irresponsibly riding around with a little kid on the thing with them, sometimes almost tipping it over, sometimes just being a really bad traffic hazard. You see people, adults and kids, getting injured and killed on them every day. I try to be careful when I'm LEGALLY driving on the streets, don't want to hit anyone, but I really don't care when somebody, adult or child, does stupid and illegal ATV riding and winds up injured or dead. It's a stupid waste of life and it is ALWAYS the adults' fault. ALWAYS. They know better and ought to be a better example for the kids and the kids wouldn't even have access to ATVs without their parents giving them the green light for that and all the other stupid things they do.

It's called trespassing on private property. The land owner has the right to block entry as he sees fit. Law abiding people will respect that and not violate the block, what ever it is.

Guess we read it different, I thought the dude meant he was driving legal in a car and not a ATV. I don't know anyplace theyd be legal on streets cause they aint safe but bet they'd like to sell tags for them.

The truth of the matter is that the cable has been across that road for years, and yes it is there to keep people out. Also the bad thing is that there are so many people out there who abuse four wheelers on CR 757, a big part of the people who own property out there and live out there have four wheelers and some of them, actually alot of them just FLY up and down that road, sometimes under the influence and sometimes not. Sometimes they are used to get into places to do drug deals as everyone knows there are some dealers out there who have been there doing their thing for years and no one does anything about it or seems to care. This is a very sad thing to have happen and no doubt someone is going to get the crap sued out of them over that damn cable that has been there across that road forever, and that just isn't right. My prayers are with these families but seriously, everyone who does this with their four wheelers should realize this could be you! With the amount of reckless ATV drivers and stock cars flying up and down Rock Hill Road it is a wonder someone hasn't been killed in a head on already. No one cares what goes on until something like this happens. Maybe now there will be some tickets written for unlawful ATV and stock car testing on this gravel road.

The Moody's don't live on rock hill road, they live on rolling ridge road. I know the gravel pit that's beyond the woods and down the trails from the Moody's, it is on rick hill road. So they musta went down the trails to the gravel pit. They probably weren't on 757 at all, but that would be the location of the report bc that's the official entrance to the pit. Just sayn :)

I'm sorry for those involved. I'm not sure of the law, but I don't see how the landowner is responsible. What a horrible accident. Just looking at the facts right now it appears to be the decisions of the two on the 4 wheelers that caused the accident.

I feel for Sam. He has had a tough year. I can't believe the people acting like anyone deserves something like this. Or Saying they don't care. I guess it's not so bad considering anyone like that, is not worth listening to. My thoughts are with the family

The orange flags were on the cable the last time I went past the place it happened. It doesn't matter if it is two wheel or four wheel the fact is that area is notorious for crazy drivers on ATVs and even stock cars! This is a horrible tragedy and no one deserves to have anything like this happen. It is interesting because for some reason I am getting rumblings that it was dark when it happened? If so, why would anyone be out in the dark riding into and out of places like this, excuse me if I misunderstood. Very strange the whole incident. There have been ATVs up and down Rock Hill sometimes without their lights on at all after dark on many occassions. All the people who live out there have experienced this, even up by us down 780 and some of the side roads. God be with the families of these young men and please people, be more aware of the dangers of both motorcycles, ATVs and cars on country gravel roads and off roading. You never know what is around the corner or hid in some tall grass, gullies and all kinds of stuff people dump as well as things like gates, fences and cables if you are in unfamiliar territory whether it be night or day.

It happened right off of 757 on a little road that goes up beside a vacant house within site of 757 right between where 777 and 759 split off of Rock Hill, sounds like they were a long way away from home if they live on Rolling Ridge, maybe they cut through behind Terra Hills or they would have had to do quite a bit of pavement.

I want t address some of the items that have been brought up here. (1)They were riding only one vehicle, because the other one was out of gas and the key was turned off. (2)Yes, orange flgs would have made the cable more visible. (3)This was no booby trap. The pit is about to be mined for gravel by Hedger Brothers and therefore comes under federal jurisdiction as a mining operation. And last but not least, it is illegal to operate ANY ATV on any city, county or state maintained road in Arkansas. Private property is not included, provided the rider has the land owners permission. This was just a senseless, tragic accident and nothing more.

Anyone know about the condition of the cable that was hit? My thoughts and prayers go out to the cable's family. It's a shame it had to be injured by this hillbilly nonsense. Stay strong cable.
