Advise-are you sure there are homeless people in America? Doesn't sound like such a great job by the Bush Administration. Oh, and sorry you are offended by them. Throw them a quarter the next time you see some and maybe you could sleep better.

Also, I forgot-those homeless people would probably enjoy the Loft Apartment.

Don't forget the drunks and the crack dealers and hoes on the street corners. Some are trying to make it a little New Orleans, but they don't know they are being watched really close.

I wouldnt buy anything downtown, especially if Clay Young had anything to do with building it.

Down Town is on fire right now, any investment there is probably a good one. Clay has done a great service to the community by rebuilding downtown the way he has.

Please, think before you plan on moving downtown. Not only do you have to deal with the noise of traffic, but also the noise from the restaurants that stay open late. You will be choosing to live in this area, and then you will be one of the same people that chose to live there already and constantly call the police department and complain about the same area you chose to live in. It's not the businesses fault that you chose to live in a business district.

Well I live in a loft downtown and mine is virtually soundproof.

Before you go and buy one lofts or rent one, look up "Downtown Fires" on the net and look at how fast fire move through old "downtown" style buildings and how quick these things collapse. Before someone says "But these buildings have been brought up to new codes" they have but you still have the inherent problems of the original building construction. "Buyer Beware" applies here.

Do the lofts on Church have parking in the gated lot on Church? What about convenience of coming in with 4 bags from Walmart/Kroger and a good day at the mall? Are there elevators?

I just somewhat committed to renting a studio apt. downtown. I have heard nothing but good things about them....I have given them my check but haven't signed any lease. Now, you all have me rethinking this decision. They can't really be that bad...my biggest worry before this thread was parking issues.

theres alot of late 20's and thirty something professionals that live downtown. the rehab that i have seen on the buildings is impeccable. people complain about the noise but your in a brick building with new windows etc. the noise would not be any worse then the traffic a lot of people deal with in other neighborhoods in the city. even if there was noise, you would get used to it. i do believe that ALL those have designated parking. some have parking behind the buildings in garages and some under in back in carports of sorts. there is also parking on union for the rest as well as lots sprinkled downtown for those units. if your social, like to eat out, hear live music, get together with friends and other professionals, its a good place. the price of rental or purchase of those lofts downtown easily weeds out all of the riff raff and for the riff raff that cant afford them... they are secure and high enough above the streets that you wont have to deal with them. it wasnt a stupid move in my opinion since your renting. i would be more worried if i was buying one and paying a 30 year mortgage on one since you dont know how the area will hold up BUT... your renting so its not a bad thing. Clay Young has done something good for the downtown and if its not your lifestyle then dont knock it. some of us wouldnt even want to live north of the bypass... but that doesnt mean theres not good areas north of it... just a preference.

I used to live downtown, right off of Main Street and I loved it. After I got used to all the sounds, I slept like a baby. I loved being able to walk out my door and walk down the road to get a bite to eat or do a little shopping. I would move back there again if I could.

You can get a spot in the garage for $50 dollars more a month but I just park on main or in the radio station parking lot. As for bags you can pull in the alley behind your building and carry your stuff in the back door so it really not that bad at all
