We love eating at Godseys, but we have noticed on the last 3-4 visits, we think our drink tab has been padded by a drink or two. We were told by a friend that Godseys is famous for adding a drink or two to bar tabs if the people have been there a while.. is this common?

I think the take-home message here is that you should review your tab before paying. Could be an honest mistake or not, I don't know, but I do enjoy eating there.

It is something Godseys does. We actually had a waiter that told us. . . it is all about the turnover. So though Godseys is a fun kind of place to sit and chat with your friends over dinner and drinks. . if you stay too long. .(over 1.5 hours) EVEN if there are 3 couples having dinner and drinks (= tab in excess of $75 per couple) at a 4 topper table. . . at least that water seems to believe in padding the tab. I can't believe it is just an honest mistake. . if so, he is a stupid waiter. Yes, we review our tab, but I should not be required to correct the tab EVERY time I go to a place. They should stop the practice.

bartender was rude the last time I went in and sat at the bar. When I sit at a table I get good service and havent noticed the tab being wrong. When I did sit at the bar and drink, i paid for drinks individually instead of starting a tab because of this rumor I heard.

I ate there a few months ago and watched as the waiters and waitresses had drinks at the bar, when they were not waiting on tables.
I believe that is definately a practice that would have their liquor license pulled..........they didn't seem too worried or scared of getting caught though.

If they werent on the clock, then they can drink. What business of it is yours? Do you own the liquor permit. If not then shut the f@ck up.

I guess they were ALL off the clock, and just waiting tables off the clock..........because they were all drinking, and would leave their drink on the bar and go wait on a table. No, I don't own their liquor permit dumbass.........and if they keep that up, I doubt whoever does will very much longer either. Now, you shut the f@ck up.

Was this drinking after hours, as in when they had no customers? Surely they're not drinking to get a buzz at work.

i could care less if my server is drunk as long as my drink never gets empty!!! i have a great idea. When you order a drink, put a mark on a napkin. When your ticket comes, check the tab with the marks on the napkin. This will keep you from getting ripped off, since everyone seems to think thats what Godseys is doing. Prolly start doin this myself when I go back.

If I said that they left their drinks on the bar to go and wait on a table..........how could you misconstrue that it would be after hours?
I don't necessarily have a gripe with it..........in fact, I was thinking that I wouldn't mind having a job like that myself!! I'm just thinking that it might be business wise if someone from Godseys were to read this thread and probably stop allowing that to happen. I'm not going to stop eating there, they have awesome food and I love the atmosphere..........I would hate to see them close their doors and I doubt they would remain open if their license was revoked. I do know that is against the rules of their license. I was dining with someone that is very well aware of laws and such and they noticed it too and was actually the one that commented on it first.
This is just a 'heads up' for Godseys..........don't be letting your employees drink on the job, cuz I would truly hate to see you go.:)
