Anyone have any thoughts on Craighead Nursing Center? I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of any nursing home abuse there. How well do they treat their patients?

My mother in law was moved there after being in 2 other homes here in Jonesboro. She passed a year ago but it was really great to have her in a clean, caring place. It was clean and I never could smell anything. She was very well cared for, we never had any complaints!

My mother was there several years before she passed
and it is clean. Food service is bad. If it is anything that is good they are not served enough of it. Maybe the same in other homes. But when you talk to food service or directors they act like your crazy. The aids are usually young and go around in groups not checking on patient just have a hanging out in one room laughing and having a good time. No nursing home is good - but you will just to have to check it out for yourself.

I have worked there as a cna and latter an lpn . I was very comfortable with my grandmother living there. She was also very happy with her care. I don't think you will find a better nursing home in jonesboro. There is usually a wait for a bed. So if you are wanting to put a loved on there start early.

Listen. I don't know what you're running around saying to everyone else but as far as the food service being bad that's a total matter of opinion and a pretty crappy one !!!! I work there!! And it's a wonderful place. My aides are great for the most part and many of them are young. But that doesn't mean they aren't caring and wonderful. Just so ya know we just passed our State survey with an a plus 5 star rating with one very minor tag. Peopl wait for months to get in. If the food service is all you have to complain about then you should count your blessings. Perhaps you could take your loved one to Skill Care. Their quality is so poor they have at least 29 beds open right now. And the state workers are out there once a month on complaints so it should be all good huh!? Craighead is the best and I can say that with total confidence because numbers don't lie!!!!

I worked at Skillcare a few years ago on night shift and I can see why they have 29 beds empty if they havent improved their care since then and it dont sound like it has...

Craighead would definitely not be my first choice, if you can make the drive to paragould my first choice would be Greene Acres, that place is awesome, and if you hear complaints it is probably from disgruntled employees. I will tell you why I would not choose craighead for a few reasons. First of all the aides are lazy for the most part, what the person said above is true, they group in rooms and try to look busy, I promise this is true. Another reason I would not choose them is they have a zero tolerence policy for med errors, I know you may think great, if a nurse can not get the meds correct she should not be working there, but the fact of the matter is people make mistakes and if you fire every nurse who makes even a minor med error, do you have any idea what happens, the nurses quit self reporting, and I would say 75% of med errors are self reported, and when they dont get reported the nurses cover up the errors so they will not get fired, then your gramma does not get the urgent medical attention she needs, instead she dies because of a cover-up, and if you do not think this is true ask any nurse you know if she knows at least a dozen nurses who would not report their mistakes if they knew it would mean automatic dismissal. Another thing about that home, while my grandma was there for just a few short months I saw tons of people fired, and that is not a good thing for patient care at all. I can tell you now their are better homes, and no skilcare is not one of them, my aunt was there for rehab, and when something went wrong, which it did, they were more interested in pointing fingers than attempting to fix the problems they had going on.

You haven't got a clue do you ? I have worked there for over two years and have made a few small med errors. This so called zero tolerance policy is non existent. They will fire you for giving someone the completely wrong medicine , as in giving one resident a cupful of another residents medicine. As they should. But I report med errors that I make, because I know it's the right thing to do ! You must be one of those that got fired for being lazy or calling in too much. The only people I have ever heard talk about CNC in such a manner were ones that got fired !

My Mother was here for just over a year, and we had NO complaints. She would complain at the drop of a hat, b!tch people out for imagined abuses, and was just overall hard to get along with, yet she never had any complaints, either. She always greeted the staff when they came in, and they seemed to not mind her being there, either. It was an amazing result, actually. No one was more surprised than me.

The place was very clean, and it was constantly kept that way. The care she received was second to none, and we got several calls a week from the 'on duty' nurses station, bringing us up to date on anything out of the ordinary. We visited several times a week, and the staff was always courteous.

We and my Mother were lucky to have been able to have her in such an environment. We all could have done so much worse.
