Perhaps the reason the NRA has so many members is that people want their RIGHTS.

The reason the commie party (a.k.a., democrats) have so many members is that people aren't smart enough to realize that liberals want to TAKE AWAY RIGHTS.

I am Wayne LaPierre's son from a secret gay marriage my dad had with Ted Nugent. While dad won't let me work in the family business because of the secretive nature of our relationship but you will take my gun when you pry my cold dead, but immacuately manicured, fingers from around it. I also keep backup guns in a waste clip and an anke holster and I have a wallet that fires five .22 magnum rounds. Dad and Ted have promised me a pair of cowboy boots made from Blue Fin Tuna skin that have pistols in the point that fire 45 ACPs when you click the heels together. All I have to do is not come out in public or talk to anybody from the press. Daddy Ted said someday I can come visit by half-brother at his house and we'll kill a bunch of animals and eat their hearts. I can't wait! Now, yawl dont be letting those communist politicians take our guns-especially before I get my boots and get to visit Daddy Ted's house!

Well Daddy Ted only liked Daddy Wayne to call him Daddy so I call him Uncle Daddy Ted. J. Edgar was indeed my grandfather. I have a beautiful chiffon blouse of his and some pearl ear rings. Uncle Daddy Ted was abusive and would often scream at Daddy Wayne and call him a little Toy Poodle Bitch and then whip him with a riding crop. I could hear from my basement. Sometimes he would pistol whip him and make him beg. Uncle Daddy Ted said that he was struck with a terrible virus at the time he was called to serve in Vietnam and it caused him to act crazy and lose total control of his bowels. Because he was under the spell of the virus he didn't realize for months that he was forgetting to clean the dooky out of his pants for weeks at a time. He so badly wanted to go over and kill VCs but by the time he got well he'd been labled unfairly and the government wouldn't let him volunteer!

The NRA is slowly becoming irrelevant. Not one of their major candidates they backed nationally won. Not one. The NRA is more like a union today with bad leadership and a membership role that differs in beliefs from that bad leadership team. The members are like battered wives. They get raped and the crap kicked out them repeatedly, yet they keep coming back for more. Mentally unbalanced, it really seems much of the membership is today.

Ronald Reagan would be embarrassed for what the GOP and the NRA have become today.

Good afternoon, I am returned.

I see the opposers have pulled out all their guns < === <<< (chuckle @ irony)... as it were.

I refuse to allow this discussion to be hi-jacked, so I'll just say this once,- anyone here who remembers RBJ remembers 2 things in particular about him.

1. He was constantly being called a liar, due mostly to his antics and pranks he played on trolls. An example; I remember once on the Paragould board when RBJ opened an account and posed as a girl for weeks while Joe serenaded her until Joe's girlfriend got wind of it.

BAAAAA HAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

2. RBJ was a known, self proclaimed athiest, for which he was also constantly ridiculed.

Yet, in that post, RBJ said, "God's honest truth".

So for that, those who hated him most - believed him to be telling the truth.

I ... AM ... NOT ... R.B.J ... but I do miss him so.

Now, whenwe left off ... we were discussing the NRA's stance on the 1968 Gun Control Act.

Question - Do I need to post a copy of the 1968 Gun Control Act summary, and begin there?

I'll just leave this question hanging until it gets a proper answer;

In 1968 President Lyndon B Johnson, who had been already proposing gun control legislation for 5 consecutive years, wrote a letter to Congress. It included this plea;

"In the name of sanity... in the name of safety and in the name of an aroused nation, give America the gun-control law it needs."

At that time, over 80% of Americans supported stricter gun laws and they were somewhat delivered. However, even tho the NRA initially supported the original legislation proposal to ban all mail-order firearms, they soon found themselves being at odds with their membership so they "pretended" to oppose the 1968 Gun Control Act in public while supportive in negotiating more modest legislation.

Q; Had the 1968 Gun Control Law been passed in it's original text as supported secretly by the NRA, would we even have to deal with the internet gun sales problem we have today?

Secretly supported? Okay Dean Wormer. Did they support it because LBJ put them on double secret probation? Considering that online gun sales still ship to an FFL that conducts a background check, yes we would still have internet gun sales. Perhaps if the 68 law hadn't established the FFL's, we could buy our evil guns from Amazon and get then shipped to the front door in a box with a smiley face on it.

I'm relatively new so I don't remember any RBJ. Did he pass away or something? And, no, I am not trying to be funny, I just don't know what this means. I think I heard the gun ban's death knell sound today. I read where Harry Reid, who didn't support the previous ban, indicated that the Senate version of the gun violence would not include a ban on any guns. When the Senate's Demacratic quarterback chooses a different play than the coach is calling for, that is sure sign of a lack of support among Senate Dems. I don't see Rep.Feinstein's Bill even passing the House and, while she could amend the Senate's Bill, I think this is an indication that a ban is not going to happen. That's just my read on it anyway.

Yes, secretly supportive.

No, they didn't support it because LBJ strongarmed them. BUT! They must have had a reason to support gun control measures of the late 60's and throughout the 70's. What could have been the reason for that?
