I need my nails done. I've been spoiled to going every two weeks to an awesome nail salon in Missouri. I moved to Pocahontas and don't know where to go. I've been to LT Nails in Pocahontas and to Lee Nails & Spa in the mall...neither impressed me. I need a place that does a good job! I don't mind paying for good work, but these places charged $5 more than I'm used to and did an awful job.

I love Diva Nails across the street from the mall at turtle creek. They do an awesome job. I get the solar nails and they look absolutely fabulous. I've had so many people complement me on my nails. It's 40 initially and 20 to fill, unless you break one, then it's an extra 5 for each nail. But make sure you have plenty of time to get it done, because everytime I have gone in there they are busy, so be prepared to wait your turn. It will be well worth the wait though.

What are the solar nails? I usually just do acrylic french tips. Do you know how much they charge for those?

I wouldn't recommend Star Nail Salon last time I went they cut me twice during my pedicure and my solar nails were uneven, very disappointed.

Solar nails are like the acrylic but they are harder and last a lot longer. You can still get the acrylics but they are same price, so I'd upgrade to the solars.

I prefer the 16 penny nails myself.

Well that's for your input ladies...and your sarcasm Ron. Man I can't believe they want $40 for that. I'm used to paying $25 for a full set in MO and everywhere else around here I've paid $30...but if they do a great job I guess it's worth it :)

"Solar" is a brand-specific acrylic. It is made by Creative Nails. Some salons charge more because they want customers to think they are getting a superior product. It's acrylic. It just belongs to Creative, same as Absolute belongs to OPI.The application and technique of the technician is what makes the difference in the appearance of ANY nail enhancement.
Proper sanitation and hygiene should be the prime consideration in selection of a nail salon.

You can have the same look that you have been used to with "solar" nails.French tips/acrylic,either an overlay,or sculpt,it does not matter. It's still a brand name of acrylic.

FYI,I posted this ? on NailsMagazine website on the forums (for professionals only.) I am copying the answer from a seasoned nail tech that regularly posts on there so you can see it for yourself.

"Solar" was a brand name of a particular line of CND L&P acrylic systems that when it was introduced; had the latest technology to prevent the enhancments from yellowing in the sun. Now all of todays reputable product has this technology so CND discontinued the Solar line several years ago. The term is still used by disreputable salons as a gimmick to make you believe that you are paying for and getting something that is "better" than the norm. And this is just not so. I would suggest that anyone be wary of a salon that uses this type of disreputable practice.

Hopefully you will be able to save yourself some money, and,be a more informed customer/client when you do make your salon selection.Good luck.

Definitely go to Modern Nail and Spa on Stadium...Diva is alright too just a longer wait and not as experienced staff!! In the past Diva has had problems with not cleaning their tool very well and spreading infection around idk if they got that problem taken care of now or not.

Not to sound racist, but I would pay more for a born-in-America tech. Clear and concise communication would be worth the extra spent.
