What's up with all the planes flying over this late? I swear it sounded like a 747 was about to crash into my house it was so loud it was shaking my windows. What is going on?

It woke my wife and I up too. Whatever it was, it was very low and it lasted a long time. Very strange. Did anybody else hear it?

I heard it, too. It shook the whole house. Why would a plan be flying that low? Did anyone look out the window and see it?

What part of town was this in? Depending on where you live,it might have been a train. If the wind is just right, i.e.- direction and speed, it can be very loud. Just saying...

I heard it in west Jonesboro. I can tell the difference between a train and an unusual loud noise generating from the sky.

I am in west Jonesboro off Woodsprings. This was no train. I can't believe this board isn't lit up with questions. It was that strange.

I'm out by ASU. At around 2:30, I heard what I thought to be the largest helicopter I've ever heard. It woke me up, but before that I heard an airplane circling around the area to the northwest. But that went on for about an hour. Drones, maybe???

Just sayin...

We are also just off Woodsprings, close to bypass. I agree about the lack of questions about it...and about the train.

It was probably a larger plane using the Jonesboro Municipal Airport and perhaps coming in low and circling to land. I didn't hear it but I'm a hard sleeper. There is nothing on Channel 8's website telling about anyting out of the ordinary so it's probably just what I described above.

Doesn't anyone know someone who works at the airport or is a policeman? I want to know what it was! This kind of thing happens and everyone is always left wondering.

The only way channel 8 would find out about it was if it was posted on the AP wire by a real news agency.

It was Scotty, coming to beam the good folks up! Guess we were not on the guest list.

Someone must know what it was. My husband woke me up, and the house was shaking. The noise was very loud and lasted for what seemed like quite a while. I live near Candlewood. If it was just a plane that was landing at the airport, surely someone must know. I'm not a conspiracy theory type but it was definitely an odd occurrence.

There are at least 63 active drone sites around the U.S, federal authorities have been forced to reveal following a landmark Freedom of Information lawsuit.

The unmanned planes – some of which may have been designed to kill terror suspects – are being launched from locations in 20 states.

Most of the active drones are deployed from military installations, enforcement agencies and border patrol teams, according to the Federal Aviation Authority.

The authority revealed the information after a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Its website hosts an interactive map that allows the user to zoom in to the area around where they live to see if any sites are nearby.

However, the FAA is yet to reveal what kinds of drones might be based at any of these locations.

The agency says it will release this data later.

Most of the drones are likely to be small craft, such as the Draganflyer X8, which can carry a payload of only 2.2lb.

Police, border patrols and environmental agencies, such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), could use for them effectively.

While few would object to vast open areas being monitored for wildfires, there are fears of privacy violations if drones are used to spy over cities.
