The truth is ASU has some high dollar donors who wanted nothing to do with the stigma associated with him. I told my husband it would never happen but he thought they would rather have the wins. I wasn't for or against, but that's how it works here.

I agree. I'm the one who posted that about the powers that be. You know half of them have done as much but they have an image to uphold you know.

probably didn't like the stigma of winning, bid bowl games, and having one of the best qb coaches in the country.

That would've sucked.

instead let's sign a loser (just did,) and let the best prospect sign with a conference school we coudn't beat.

Word is, it was Patrino's wife that helped make the decision. She wanted to get out of Arkansas and start fresh.

No. Word is some big time donors said they would pull their support if Petrino was hired.

Some say it was his wife, some say it was the boosters, some say it was the buyout, some say he was never offered but who knows? The bottom line is we didn't get him and now we're stuck with this guy from Texas. Hopefully he'll do alright.

Hard to get a "fresh" start in Kentucky, considering his history there.

Petrino's wife said she would not stay in Arkansas because of what happened. I don't blame her.

I'm sure every person associated with ASU Football would have loved to have Petrino - he freaking wins football games! As someone pointed out, it's certainly not the first case of infidelity around these here parts! Problem is/was three-fold (1) We'd be getting UA's sloppy seconds which wouldn't sit well.(2) The motto every coach sells is that they are molding fine young student athletes ... not, we will win and screw over everyone we meet at all cost with no regards for anyone.(3) We'd be in the exact same boat as this year. One bad rap buffer year off the radar "getting his life in order" and he's back on the track pimping his coaching wares to the highest bidder in one year. I want to say something about point #2 - Petrino has screwed over every single person in his life.
Over the past decade, Bobby Petrino has been disloyal to his former boss, Tommy Tuberville, to the people who had paid him at Louisville, to the Atlanta Falcons ó players and management. Letís see, who else? Oh yes, he stuck it to the taxpayers in the state of Arkansas, players, AD, fans, etc and most famously, of course, apparently to his own family. I mean this guy cares and thinks about one thing and one thing only and that is himself -- If ASU had a chance to hire him and past it up ... good for them!

mama didn't care much for Captain Insano or Vicki Nee Vaillancourt at first either, but she finally accepted that Bobby was a grown man.

I guess you missed the point where Arthur Blank forbid him to address his players at Atlanta, this is the same owner who fired Dan Reeves with 3 games left um the season a few years earlier. He told everyone that he needed to do it for the benefit of the Falcons. As far as Louisville, every coach looks for a better situation for them, ala Gus. Now, he did screw over the Razorback fans, players, and Adm. I don't have a problem with ASU passing on him, but lets get the facts straight.
