That's way too low. Anybody with dogs ought to be legally obligated to have more insurance than that because people with dogs are stupid crackheads who refuse to accept the fact that other people aren't crazy about them or their dogs and don't want either on their property crapping and digging up expensive landscaping. Not to mention the fact that the damned things attack and bite (dogs and their owners) and jump on people and knock them down and the injured party has to turn around and sue the offenders' for everything they have or ever will have and that should be more than you ignorant damned a ssholes with stupid dogs have.

Why would you want one. There are a lot of good dogs that are not dangerous and wont raise your insurance. Just the fact that insurance companies don't want to insure a home with a pit bull in it should tell you something about the pit bull breed.

Come on now, Why in the world are you asking this question here on Topix. Call the insurance company. And when you fine out the price you'll dump the pit bull.

The insurance companies spend millions in researching, Thats what they base rates on. If they wont insure something or the rates are much higher there is a reason for it. and insurance companies know that pit bulls are killers.

Stop your nonsense and prejudice against Amanda. You're admitting they are ALL potential killers so WTF difference does it make if somebody says pit bull or ALL you prejudiced POS. You deserve death by dog, either one pit ripping out your jugular or 1000 minpins all taking a bite of you.

Of course people from insurance companies don't own pit bulls. They have done the research on pit bulls they know the facts and how vicious and unpredictable they are. If I see one that is lose it will be a good pit bull real quick.

I haven't heard anything about having to have insurance due to the type of dog you own.
I myself own a pit bull and always have. I have not had any trouble out of them.
I'm tired of always seeing how horrible the breed is when really its how the dog is raised.
I know people who have been bit , and needed stitches, by other breeds, such as a lab, great Dane, chow, and a Pomeranian.
So why is it people hate on pit bulls so much?
The way I see it is people want to band that breed then try to band a race.
In a race, one person can give the whole race a bad name. That doesn't mean everyone in that race is bad - does it?
Same goes for a dog. Don't blame the whole breed because of some incidents.

Pit bulls get branded on all dog stray dog attacks, most likely cause dog fighting. I know about 10 individuals with a pit bull. Like the gentleman said a well trained, cared for pitbull is no dangerous than a weimaraner or chesapeake.

Well your obviously just dumb or uninformed. I understand why a landlord wouldnt want animals in one of there rental properties, due to damages to the property and yard(as im an owner of a rental property). But to act like Pit Bulls shouldnt be allowed any where is just off the wall! I have had my Pit for 8 years and she only has a heart of gold. I have raised new borns around her with no problem. She doesnt have a mean bone in her body. And Nobody will tell me what kind of dog I can have on MY OWN PROPERTY! One more thing, pits are only the topic because they look "scary". The amount of pitbull attacks is extremely low compared to most "family" breeds. They will die trying to take my family dog.

I must have missed something but I've never heard of buying insurance specifically for dog ownership. Unless you're talking about "General Liability" or similar type of insurance, I can't imagine what you would be referring to. Who exactly said you have to have insurance to own a specific breed of dog and what exactly is that policy called? I understand people's concerns with pit bulls because they have the potential strength and capability to inflict fatal wounds but so do other breeds. Like most dogs I think how they are raised that determines their behavior. I have one friend with a pit bull that is one of the most gentle and loving dogs you'll find. I, personally, would not want to own a pit bull but there are responsible owners of non-violent pit bull dogs. The breed does tend to get blamed for a lot of vicious dog attacks by half-breeds and other breeds. Before buying one I would talk to a trusted vetrinarian and my insurance carrier.

Pit bulls are more dangerous, bc their jaws have a locking mechanism that lets them hold on and do more damage when they do bite. It's not the fact that some are mean and some are not, they ALL have that capability.

That's true but there are other dangerous breeds that people keep for pets that don't elicit the same reaction. I would be curious what percentage of serious dog attacks annually in the US are from pit bulls.
