I have suddenlink at work and ATT DSL at home. Dsl is so damn slow I can't stand it. I have never had a problem with my Suddenlink except the friggin price, because it is a business account. I have a wireless modem / router at home so I can't say for sure that DSL is the complete problem though.

I have not had Suddenlink but have had ATT's dry loop dsl(no landline) for years and it is rock-solid in reliability. All I ever hear/read about is people having outages with cable, not with my dsl. Cable is rated faster but that speeds drops like a rock when there are a lot of people on the network.. DSL is a dedicated line and speed is not dependent on network traffic in your area.

I've had att for about a year. Never had a problem. It's fast as any cable service I had. I have had comcast and suddenlink. I do have the fastest wifi modem att offers. So there is no need to buy a seperate wireless router. I run my desktop, laptop and PS3 online all at the same time. Only problem I did have was once I bought the modem it took about a week and a half of phone calls to actually get ATT to come install a phone line.

This is the speed I get with Suddenlink Consistently Download Speed: 8174 kbps (1021.8 KB/sec transfer rate) copied and pasted. DSL service is not available here. As far as the price, I am paying Suddenlink about $42.00 a month for this speed and I can watch Netflix movies in HD on my xbox 360 at any time. On the other hand my experiences with AT&T tend to make me think they are one with the congested network that slows down. In fact, I have two cell phones with internet access. Of course, there is no 3G coverage, Verizon has shown us that there is a Map for that. I pay $30.00 a month for one because the phone has a keyboard. I have $15.00 for the other because it does not have a keyboard. Both are 3g phones. That is $45.00 a month for speed that is barely above dial up and instead of investing in their network they are spending money on television commercials and suing their competition when they would not be in this shape had they upgraded their network.

YOUR COMPARING APPLES TO ORANGES. YOU JUST COMPARED HOME INTERNET TO INTERNET ON YOUR CELL PHONE???? TWO DIFFERENT THINGS

suddenlink cable is the fastest service there is in this area. The biggest problem is if you have a home network or your neighbors all have suddenlink then your speed can be reduced drastically - especially if doing large downloads and such.

At&t is not that fast but at least you do not have to worry about neighbors and home network slowing you down. The biggest problem with them is the further you are from their substation, the slower your speed will be.

I have had both in the past. Started with suddenlink, then at&t but when my contract was up with at&t went immediately back to suddenlink. I hate at&t's customer service.

I was told by 2 different at&t reps last week I couldn't get their internet service here? Whats up with that??

That's a good question and it deserves a good answer but do not expect from AT&T as they do not want to talk about their World War II POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) that they somehow tout as superior. As far as suddenlink at 1:00p.m. here is their speed copied and pasted Download Speed: 8177 kbps (1022.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 401 kbps (50.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
What's up with your question is that with their World War II phone system, if you are not within so many feet of the switch you cannot DSL and the further away from the main switching station you are, the slower your speed is. Also, they have routers and at those routers their internet too becomes shared. All of the internet is shared.

I too have had both. I currently have Att dsl atm

Personally I think suddenlink is too expensive and I dont' like their attitude twards customers

Speed wise I must admit that Suddenlink does offer a faster internet than At&t. But my internet connection is always steady.

When I had Suddenlink and lived at The Link I would notice that at peak times my internet speeds would drop dramasticly. Only times I really got what I paid for was during the day (when everyone was at work or school) or early in the morning (when everyone was asleep)

They both have their pros and cons

ATT is offering dsl only 6mbs down for 19.99 a month. I am a customer already but threatened to cancel and they gave me the new price, I was paying 45/month

Personally, I despise ATT. No do be ethnically incompetant, but all I get are indian men that have extremely strong accents and takes a few minutes to understand something. I get around 2.7 download and .3 upload (I do YT so thats really bad) and when I call them to ask them about it they tell me it is within the range at which they promise me. When we got the Xtreme package or w/e it was a promise of 6 download 2.5 upload. Never have I gotten beyond 3 download. I check frequently to see if it just random spurts of terrible internet. Also, it takes a while for them to come out to my town, which actually isn't too far from the 'HQ'. When they do come out it is mainly BSing around and not doing to much, then they ask for money and I tell them they haven't done much but waste time they say OK and charge my next bill 2 fold. One time they went in my fridge and got some food and took a half carton of OJ (I have security cams and saw it). I am switching to Suddenlink soon and god forbid they are like ATT.

why don't you just read what has already been posted. there is a lot of good and valid info about both services in the previous postings. it is not out of date.

Suddenlink is a lot better and lots cheaper. I was a customer of AT&T for 14 years and was always afraid to change. I finally did and it has been good. I have had a few problems and they come right out but the price is about $63 dollars cheaper for everything.

They're both bad and I can't imagine having everything go out at the same time because it's all Suddenlink OR AT&T and that's what would happen. The service for both keeps getting worse and their prices keep getting higher. Screw the middle class is definitely the war cry for merchants in this Obama economy.
