how as CWL turned on you?..... do the math, if u wanted to do away with the existing system u'd hafta buy pipe to connect to theirs, then youd have to have the exiting tank drained and taken away... then the pipes pulled up... then u'm hafta get all that yard fixed and filled in...... think i'd rather just keep own system coz it only cost bout $150 to get tank drained once every 5 years and just gottaturn the bull run valve every 6 months. its not worth any less than what it worth to begin with.

Who you gonna get to haul off the waste? The article in the Sun said that no one is this area will accept it like CWL has been doing. It could be a real problem for those who live in the city and are still on septic. The board needs to remember who they represent !!

i live in the county and have my own septic system. the purpose of a sepic system in to empty in tank then the waste escapes into pipes that leak into the ground. i got my tank pumped from knuckles septic in brookland when i bought my land. i havenmt read any articles about changes but i'm pretty sure still do service in city limits.
Just wondering

CWL isn't allowing companies that pump out septic tanks to dump their waste at their treatment facilities any longer.

CWL made the growth possible in this town. You have no idea the kinds of contributions that CWL has made toward the economic development of this community. Their employees are also great stewards of Jonesboro, consistently raising thousands of dollars for the United Way and other charities.

It is deplorable that you may have to pay an increase in fees for septic services to haul your waster further away, but it is ultimately not the responsibility of CWL to provide the service.

I, for one, am incredibly pleased at the service that CWL provides the community. I am also incredibly pleased at how their employees participate in the local economy and work tirelessly to provide consistent service in times of bad weather.

I think you're ungrateful and uneducated on the matter. Move to Paragould.

I agree that CWL has done alot for Jonesboro, but stopping to accept the waste that they have accepted for years is unacceptable. It will not only affect people in the septic service business, but you would probably be surprised at how many good coustomers and supporters of CWL live in the city and are on a septic system. What they have done in the past is important, but screwing a lot of people now isn't justified. Oh, by the way, I could hear the pagers at Cavanaugh Ford the day after the ice storm, 9 days later my electricity finally came on, so Mom, they sure ain't perfect !!

Do what Sartin does at Southlawn Nursery on S. Culberhouse. Just pump it into the ditch.

Okay, CW&L is a good company with a lot of great people working there. EPA regulations change constantly. CW&L has restrictions on lots of stuff (including sewage) which were not in effect a couple of decades ago when they were nice enough to take the septic waste. It is their job to ensure the sustainability of their water treatment plants and power generation, not to treat septic waste.

You just won the teddy bear!!! The root cause of all this baloney is government regulation. CWL has to meet EPA regs for everything. This is why the cost of power and water continue to climb. The population continues to grow, but the tree-huggers put the brakes on any new energy development or improvement. These regulations are also the reason it is so damn expensive to connect to city sewer now. After the ice storm, what sense did it make for the city to collect all that friggin brush, just to haul it out and burn it?? Why not let the homeowners burn it themselves, at no cost to the taxpayers (yes, I know FEMA paid the bill, but that's still the taxpayers' money) I saw several instances where people who owned several wooded acres had drug all that brush out to be picked up. What do you think normally happens to limbs that fall in the woods. They friggin rot. It's the circle of friggin life. I don't remember any brush landfills in the Lion King.

Like a previous poster stated, a correctly installed and maintained septic system does not require pumping. Previously if you owned 5 acres or more, you didn't even have to have septic. Let it run out whereever. But if you want to do something about your own misery, stop electing these damn liberals and vote for someone who has had a job and worked 40 or 50 hours a week. Someone who understands that you still have a right to take a dump on your own property even if some spotted homosexual field mouse finds it offensive.

These weren't generators that had Wal-Mart on E.Highland, Cavanaugh Ford and Doublebees lit up so quick. Im glad they got their electricity back in a timely fashion, but to be so close, yet so far away was frustrating. I'm just saying that a few individual areas were neglected until a little hell was raised by the residents (after 9 days, it was justified). Do your homework and be careful who you call dumbass !!

J-Town, regarding burning the limbs from the ice storm--Jonesboro was one of the few places in the State that chose to burn rather than chip. Neighbors had to put up with smoke for no reason!

And, yes, I know that the limb burning had NOTHING to do with CW&L.

just coz CWL doesn't accept waste doesn't mean that u can't get the tank pumped when needed. i'm sure brookland septic treatment would accept it with a fee. and i think a few of the septic companies have their own treatment facilities.
