prayers are definitely needed. I know the family well and understand that they haven't heard any good news yet. Prayers for the whole family and the woman who accidentally hit her would be good.

I was told last night that they called the family in. She has swelling and bleeding of the brain and they can't do surgery because of this. One of her pupil is fixed, but one is still reactive. They have told the family to consider organ donation. She is too critical to move to Memphis.

This was a terrible accident that could have been avoided. It happened on E.Highland, just east of Harrisburg Rd. The ladies were jogging into the morning sun, with their backs to traffic, and no kind of reflective or visibility gear. The lady that hit them could not see them for the sun. She was severly distraught after the accident and had to be transported to the hospital as well, due to having chest pains and passing out. When she was hit, the lady was runninging in the roadway within three feet of a sidewalk that is wide enough for two people to run abreast on. This was a terrible accident that should have never happened.

thanks for that info. I run on Highland also, but ALWAYS on the sidewalk. I've noticed alot of early morning joggers run in the road, I suppose they feel safe due to low traffic, but like the poster pointed out above, there are conditions in which the driver cannot see the jogger. Also, you are suppose to always run facing traffic, not away from it. You are right, this accident could have been avoided.

Does it really matter right now who is to blame. This woman is probably not going to make it. Pray for all involved!!!! Don't point fingers!!!!

I don't think they were blaming her as much as reminding everyone to be careful while jogging. It is very sad that this has happened, but it needs to be a lesson to others to be careful.

I was in no way trying to point fingers, just telling the facts of the accident. I hope she and the lady that hit her, both make it through all right. This should be a warning and a lesson, that the human body is no match against a vehicle and runners shouldn't be in the road if they can avoid it. I hope others will see this and re-think their actions while running or biking.

It makes me think twice about running on busy roads.
