Any suggestions on where to find an apartment that has no background check or is lenient with what they find? Desperately looking for an apartment but have been turned down repeatedly due to a felony in my history. Before u slam me for that, i would like to say this occured over a decade ago, i was 16 and charged as an adult. Ive paid my dues, but i still struggle w something as simple as renting. Help plz!

I think it's bullcrap to get turned down for a felony in your past. Everybody has to have somewhere to live!! Unless your felony involved you damaging or destroying the place you were living, the past is the past and should have no effect on renting a place to live. The government is making more and more people felons with constant new laws and ridiculous current laws, and if this keeps up, a good chunk of Americans here won't even be able to have a roof to sleep under, even IF they have the money to rent something!

Good luck in your search! You have my support!

Make an appointment with a competent attorney to see if you can have the felon expunged from you records.

Dirty, although that is excellent advice, i can not have anything removed until my entire parole period is over.(forever from now) My situation is one of my own making, but this is a nightmare!!

Any ideas on an apt rental???? I suspect i will just have to hope that a privately owned rental person will have mercy and give me a break bc the ones owned by big companies dont give me the time of day...

Sanda Greene, her office is in the Simmons Bank building 2nd floor, rents apartments off Harrisburg/Caraway Road. She doesn't do background ck or rental history. You fill out an app with all your info and last place lived, but then she turns right around and gives you the lease to sign. Apts were built 4 years ago. 2 bd 1 bath $600. 2 bd 2 bath $700. Hope that helps

The courtyard condos nettleton. He will do check to see if you have warrants. It is managed by a police officer. You pay by the week or month. I think it is $140 a week. He don't put up with any crap. Cops will be called in a heartbeat. You could probably go there if you don't have warrants. I think deposit is $ 200

Most hardcore murderers get life in prison or the death penalty, and any other felons that have paid their debt and been released deserve to be able to live in a home just like you do. Homelessness is a horrible thing to wish upon ANYBODY! No matter what you may think, felons are people, too...

And if that doesn't matter to you, think about this: criminals that are homeless are FAR MORE LIKELY to commit more crimes so they can go back to jail and have a roof over their heads. Do you want to be the victim of a crime of necessity? Or would you rather reintegrate them into society and give them a chance to become productive, helpful citizens again?

As if YOU'VE never done anything wrong...

You need to look in a mirror before you cast the first stone, or change your name to Laptop Judgmental.

It sucks to be you sugar! Go back to being a "guest"...you were much better at it. To the OP...try Mike Ebbert, his offices are at the Mutual of Omaha on Main. His son Jay &him are pretty decent folks that believe in second chances,,, providing you're up front & honest with them. My apologies for the idiot running around in here pretending to be me.... like that's an original idea & never been done before? Grow up Lolita wanna be & stand on your own dang name, not mine:)

You have no idea how much i appreciate your leads on possible apartments. I "get" that people dont want felons in their backyard. If my life had not gone so terribly wrong when i was a teenager, i might be just like some of you saying "no way! Not in my backyard!"

But the fact of the matter is, that reintegrating has been the hardest thing EVER.

Can i get a decent job? No.

Can i get housing assistance? No, not for atleast 5 years.

Can i go to college? Absolutely.

Can i get a job with that hard earned degree? Absolutely not.

You don't me telling you what a stupid punk kid you were....so I won't. How long was your stay in the luxury suite?Conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery is a fancy way of saying ...you were caught with a lethal weapon& going to do it ,but you didn't actually do it ?Okay, what type of work would you be looking for? The economy is awful, jobs are few. I can see where you may have a problem. Flat is a long way off so being a model citizen is mandate. Don't be discouraged, especially having the door slammed in your face.
