The U.S Geological Survey people need to ttake a closer look and give a possiblity forcast so people can choose to add earthquake damages to their home insurance! Maybe we are going toward another episode similar to the group that hit the Mississippi River a couple hundred years ago!

I am working in Alaska right now and we had a 4.9 today here in Anchorage. Why do people in Oklahoma freak so much about this stuff?? 3.5 is really nothing more then an aftershock.

Bubba ....

People on the Pacific Rim are naturally quit used to much stronger quakes, but here in Arkansas and Oklahoma we are not.

For the last 2 years we've experienced many quakes in our area and they are getting a little stronger as time progresses.

Also it wasn't very far from the Oklahoma/Arkansas
border that the New Madrid quake happened 198 years ago and shook buildings in a 50,000 (YES, Fifty Thousand) square mile radius and made the Mississippi River run backwards and changed some state lines forever.

And with another "BIG ONE" being overdue, people do tend to pay attention to our "Aftershocks" !

Why do people from Alaska freak out so much about a few Oklahomans panicking about an earthquake when they have NEVER felt an earthquake shake their house like that before? Believe me, we are used to natural disasters, twisters come through our state more than any other in the country. Why don't you try living here during tornado season and freak out while we all sit on our front porches watching the action?:) You are used to earthquakes, we aren't. Pretty much sums it up.

I've lived in Anchorage also Bubba. People here are not used to 3.5 quakes like they are up there. Imagine the news an F-3 would make if one hit Anchorage???
