I don't understand what XD57sig was talking about. It sounds like these people could have been dealing to them. but if they had children, i think that there minds would change. YES i had a child that is now in jail because of drugs.

esmont, your child is not in jail because of drugs. You child is in jail because he/she was convicted of violating the law. Let's stop blaming drugs for our failings in raising our children.

Wilber -- I bet you dont even have kids, parents can raise their kids a certain way and they still grow up and meet up with losers and turn out bad - so dont you dare blame someones (law violations - drug problems etc etc on the way the parents raise their kids! I know plenty of very christian families whose kids have grown up to turn into real dipshits and it is not the parents fault - I also have met people who have dipshits for parents and turn out great! last time I checked every single person makes his or her own choices and it is those choices that leads them down their own path in life good or bad! People need to stop finding blame and look in the damn mirror and judge yourself because no matter how you turn out it is your own damn fault!

I have known these two wonderful people for 30 or more years. Don't go judging them until you know the whole story behind the pot they had. People are real quick to judge someone before they know the whole story. When you walk in their shoes and face cancer like they have then you can judge. Until then keep your comments to yourself or find out the real truth behind this wrongful arrest.

What a waste of time...if these people spend any time behind bars, while the meth operator (who happened to be a UVA student) has his sentencing deferred FOR OVER A YEAR and is out free as a bird, then the judicial system better take a long hard look at it's priority list

The law is the law people. These people broke the law and I agree they need jail time. Its not senseless, what was sensless was the selling of drugs! Put them under!!!

Nonmissionary style sex between married couples is also illegal in Virginia. Would you support them going to jail (or "putting them under" as you say) for that? Laws are laws and stupid ones can be changed only from the citizens who speak out...noone here is saying that selling drugs should be legal...but pot? C'mon man!

No what is senseless is people who look at folks like these and deem them criminals because they smoke Marijuana, most don't really understand how it works, unless they have had personal experiences with it. I know what positive effects this has had in my life, but for me to sit and try to explain it to close minded folks is like talking to a brick wall ! Just because it's against the law, doesn't make it morally wrong ! just makes the laws wrong in my eyes....
I am sick and tired of the "save the children " argument, well what if they sold it to your kids, well then my kids would be stoned too I guess....
When we look at substance problems with children, for the most part . it's illegal drugs that cause the problems for them, why, because with the current plan, there is no regulation, there is no control.....You have street gangs and drug cartels in control, they don't care about children, and then you have law enforcement , they don't care either, all they care about is the flow of cash that the war on drugs supplies to them, they don't ever want to win the war, if that happened , then the money would stop. Then look at Jail terms, smoke or sell some harmless weed and get 10 years in jail, but fondle a toddler and get a year, yea that sounds fair to me. My advice is, find a nice pretty rock, and bury your head under it.
As for knowing these people, I don't, even thought they do look farmilar.

No, it wouldn't , but that is just because I have over 25 years experience with Marijuana, and I know it's effects, and I know how safe it is. So to your question about my kids, I would love to hear that when faced with the hard choices of all those poison drugs they could pick, they picked to smoke Marijuana I would be relieved they picked a substance that will never harm them, that no matter how much they consume, they can't never over dose on it. A perfect designed plant, from God, for his people !

maybe not jail time, that would really cost the taxpayers. How about hard labor for a year or so. Side of the highway clean up? Trash pick up or something. Working in homeless shelters, or drug rehab or something...Not to sit around babied in jail...

They didn't comment the crime they are being arrested for. They never sold or manufactured pot to anyone. So, there is no need to justify the crime because no crime was commented. Like the lady before, know the facts first.
