I heard that all the ticket money sold on Friday will not go into the next pot. They are keeping it for themselves. The pot is only $3K. Sounds fishy to me?
Anyone else here that?
Starting at $5K. Stay in the basement if you don't like it.

Keep in mind that the legion is non-profit.(for veterans), If you have a problem with the size of the pot then you probably shouldn't be coming anywhere near the place anyways. Think before you post ignorant things.

The Legion should have made it CLEAR of the rules of the game. You are dealing with a lot of money here. And people get pretty upset when they think they are being cheated.

If it is starting at 5K, then it makes complete sense. Last week, they made roughly $20,000 on Friday night, 1/4 goes to the pot and 3/4 to the Legion.

So as someone said before, it's a 1/4!!!!!!!!!!

Had the pot not been won it would have increased about 20,000 for this friday, meaning they took in 40,000 from ticket sales. The new pot is 5000. The difference is for the legion.

Are the same people who ran the place into the ground the past couple years getting to put their hands in the cookie jar?

Consider it a donation. If you don't like it don't play again.

A donation!! People played, spent a ton of money, had fun and trusted you. What a joke!! Why dont you "donate" what should be in that pot to a veteran organization. Now that would be a donation! Way to ruin a good thing.

A good thing? I be been involved in the drawing since it first started several pots Ago. So don't talk to me about money invested in this thing. Now that its won all you greedy people ( that would be coming to the legion if they weren't giving away money in the first place) can go somewhere else until the pot gets big again... And oh yeah you'll be back. Ill be there donating my money to the new pot from the beginning.

There is a very simple solution to your dilemma. Go ask someone at the legion instead of vetching and moaning on here. You're creating an issue where there isn't one. I have a feeling that you won't be happy with an answer that actually makes sense, so continue to fantasize about this delusional conspiracy theory that the NL American legion is out to rip YOU off. YOU are that important.

Then stay home. You were obviously there for just the money in the first place. True supporters came out and had a great time tonight.

I have played from the very first pot every week too. I do not think the legion should get a "donation" that is what the other half of the pot is for. You are misleading people. If nobody won the big pot, would the entire half have gone into the following weeks pot. The legion is making a ton of money from this which is what they hoped for and that is great. But half should have started the new pot, that is what your supporters were expecting and what is right.

If you read back to some earlier posts, it is actually noted that only a 1/4 goes to the pot. There were probably 15 people that objected and said..."that's not true" Well obviously there was some truth because the opening pot starts at $5,000.00. So if you tell me that only $10,000 was made in ticket sales the day the big pot was won, i would call them Liars...... Which seeing this makes me believe they are only putting in 1/4 OR LESS

I would bet that they would explain this to you if you just go there and ask.

You need to understand the queen of hearts in the first place. ALL cards in the deck, including the joker, are placed in a locked cabinet visible at any given moment. The persons name who is drawn, choses a card and then it is overturned by the person in charge. If the card is the queen of hearts, they win the pot; if the card is not the queen of hearts, there is monetary value given, determined by the Club. The queen of hearts is "always" on the board.

Now the payout as far as taxes is set up by the State of New York. It ALWAYS applies to all winners; and yes your right, if the dollar amount is over $600, the person who wins gets a 1099. If the dollar amount is under $600, they do not get a 1099.(They may call it a W2) Taxes are held at the choice of the winner.......(same as if you win a the casino).

Dont' make this out to be a bad thing. It's a fun thing!

The non for profit organizations benefit from this. Lets support our Veterans for giving you the freedom you enjoy!!

And..........this is NOT a scam!!! The State of New York controls it; the not for profits make a little money...and your right.......the State gets part of it!!

Good luck!!

The non profit organizations benefit from this??? Right, not the veterans that's for sure. Did you give them some of the money collected? It is a American Legion after all.
