John could not have spent a 'semester' at DePaul University...although he may have attended the school. The only part of the university that operates on the semester system is the law school. The remainder of the university functions on the 'quarter' system.
I speak with first hand experience as a DePaul alumna, with both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the university. |

Note that many midwest and western private schools were still on the semester system in the 1970s and 1980s, even though the state schools were on the quarter system at that time. Over time, most schools west of the Mississippi and other private schools converted to a quarter system or tri-mester system.
I think he attended DePauw University in Indiana, not DePaul U in Chicago. You can verify by reading his autobiography "Anything Goes" published in 2008 in the UK. It can be ordered in paperback from Amazon at a discount. |

Correction -
Just referenced "Anything Goes", Barrowman's autobiography, and he mentioned that he attended the University of Iowa, for only a semester in 1985. |
