Does anyone have an idea what will ever go in the empty strip mall that is on rt 52? I can't believe that they built it without having any tennants. I know the theory of build it and they will come and I know the market is bad right now but I can't believe that they would build it without having one tennant!!

Manhattan can use a fast food restaurant, ice cream shop, etc. It's a nice looking strip mall in a good location. It doesn't make much sense that it's empty.

Do to long delays in construction, the tenants that were supposed to go in there have backed out. Now the building has been foreclosed and is for sale.

At least the guy builds something in this town. I would rather have something half ass then nothing. As soon as more houses and people come, the business will come. But the city has to keep moving forward to attract them. Clean up the downtown and make more improvements now while it is cheaper, then we will be ready when the economy comes back.

Dont move backwards and let them build any more rowhouse slums. Next thing you know, you live in Richton Park.(not that there is anything wrong with Richton Park), but they arent going to be filming any John Hughes movies there.

I thought only the Benck Farm residential subdivision was foreclosed.

You can blame the village and mr. mayor for the forclosure on that strip mall. Their are alot of things that happened that the public doesn't know!!!

Wasnt WAMO the company that invented Silly Putty? I think they brought us the Slinky too.

You cant even invent your own nickname in this town without ripping it off from the 60's.

How fitting.

Manhattan Policeman standing by fence in front of the church with a radar gun trying to catch speeders..Police car was 25 feet away. What was he going to do, run after the speeder on foot.

What police academy do they use, the one from the Steve Guttenberg movie with Tackleberry and the guy who makes sound effects?

New Lenox has state of the art police equipment, we have used cars from Will County and the two cops from Hollywood Nights......

yes i do, but he has a better sense for taking this town into the future instead of back into the past. look at american homes leighlandbbridge and lack of higher standard building codes under the admin from 5+ years ago
So you are aware that Billy and certain past board members are WAMOs, and you glorify them to no end. Then you turn around and bash ALL WAMOs calling them inbreds and worse. You lump them into one catagory, degrade them, yet still put certian WAMOs on a pedestal. You are an ignorant hypocrite.

Uh...you do realize there is more than officer working....maybe the other officer was down the road a bit stopping the people the first officer got on radar, a method used by police departments across the country.
First people on here (different thread) complain no speed enforcement is done....and now that they are getting a little creative, they get slammed for that too.
And just so you know...if you paid attention to village board mtgs and the village budget, you would know their cars are bought new and have been for several years. The only cars that are used are being used by EMA.

I am sick of the so called newbies bitching about WAMOS. Get a clue, if it was not for the so called WAMOS their would be no Manhattan. It was a great place to live until the developers came to town and all of the Chicago types came and want to change things. Get a life.

Old Timer, didn't you read my posts earlier in this thread? I am not anti-WAMO, I just set mjyp straight that I wasn't a WAMO. I love this town. I love the Mayberry feel. Many of my friends are WAMOs, and I am just defending them.

Who is this mjyp person? Whoever it is, goes into every forum on topix to talk bad about wamos. It's too bad that you are so angry and bitter. I'm fairly new to Manhattan. Everyone that I have met (new-comers or so-called wamos) have been nice to me and my family. If you hate this town so much, why don't you move? I mean that with all sincerety. You must love something about Manhattan.
