Repair trucks are out Thurs am a few days after the topic was first talked about here.
The mayor must have lowered the boom after reading here or brought to his attention.
The street hasn't been repaved in 10 yrs+ of hard winters.
It doesn't have truck traffic or out of the ordinary Walmart or Jewel traffic.
If it wasn't brought up on Topix it wouldn't have been touched in 2014 likely...very sad...makes you think

Al you're a fool. Why? Because you haven't read the Capital Improvement Plan.

Al you're a fool. Why? Because only a fool would believe that action has been taken because of a post on Topix.

Al, you're a fool? Why? Because you posted something foolish on Topix.

The refill guys were called in from another department. Seems odd all of a sudden?

Or maybe the "refill trucks" came out after the same guys who are refilling the potholes finished with cleaning up the downed trees and branches after the storm?

No that probably isn't it at all. That theory makes way too much sense.

Come on. If you are going to attempt to make an argument at least make a good one. The condition of Summit is due to the fact that the base was laid down in the 1950's. At that time storm sewers weren't even required. Storm sewers and curbs were laid down many years later. The road just needs to be completely replaced. What has always been done in the past is band-aid stuff. That's why the road is in the condition that it is in.
The condition of the road has nothing to do with "the group who placed business at points where cut through traffic invited into residential areas". Show me a town anywhere in the world that doesn't have at least one through street to the business sector.
The whole "home values" argument has been and will always be BS. Home values being decreased because a "cut through" street? Come on, there isn't any truth to that statement at all.
I actually read the Capital Improvement Plan. If I recall, Summit is scheduled for a full reconstruction in 2015. Not soon enough you say because this group of elected officials are fools? Well, at least those elected fools have for the first time told all of us in town when something is going to be done. That hasn't happened at any time during the past 60 years.
I think you are a little defensive on the current administration..I placed no blame on that group and your argument had merit until you tried to claim that the traffic on Summit did not effect Summit home values. Rethink that one. Most city streets with the traffic volume as Summit carries are far wider with sidewalks throughout both sides of the street. I think of Dunham in Downers Grove where the street is twice as wide and provides safe passage with frontage before homes are in contact. This is the type of hysterical response I thought might emerge from some of the locals that learned traffic management on horseback.

I know for a fact that several people employed by the City read as well as post on this site. If you don't believe me, just post a legitimate request and or complaint on this site and watch how fast it gets resolved. I personally think that the management wastes too much time reading what one or two people have to say on this site instead of spending a little more time on hiring employees that can pass a drug/alcohol screening ... and that's another FACT! It's very disturbing to know that there are employees like that behind the wheel of City vehicles and equipment, it's only a matter of time before someone is going to get killed! ANOTHER FACT!! If EVERY City employee had to submit to a drug/alcohol screening this coming Monday morning, it would be alarming to see how many would fail! Just another FACT!!!

Well they did a great job with the cold patch, biggest hole is not even filled and looks like they ran out of material cause one hole is half filled. Thanks for the attempt but a half assed attempt isn't going to last too long. I'll be shoveling the patch laid today off the curbs come next March. On the bright side the busted up road that gets pushed to the curbs after winter makes for great base for little retaining blocks/small landscape projects.

Just to really cause problems let's discuss Read Street. Now that street should really be closed if only in the name of public safety.

You should drive down N. Jefferson to Morgan if you really want to see an unsafe road. The forest preserve there would probably get a lot more use if residents could actually get to it without ruining the suspension on their cars or bikes (no joke)! Who knows, maybe next week there will be a halfhearted attempt to patch those roads as well???

It's obvious that most of the people who are bitching haven't taken one second to review this document. It's the Capital Improvement Plan that was just approved just this month. How do I know? I watched the meeting on TV. I read the story in the Legend. I even read the story in the Herald-News.

http://cityoflockport.net/DocumentCenter/View...

On page 40 of the 220 page document you will find your answer about Read Street.

I know, I know. All $41 million in infrastructure improvements probably should have been completed in the past 15 days. Heck, some of you will even bitch about the incompetence of this council and mayor because it wasn't done in 10 days.

If you want to know what's going on just read the damn document.

For you lazy folks that just like to complain, Summit is job #19. It's scheduled to be done in 2015. The job is found on page 43.

For those of you who don't have a clue, that's only three pages after the Read Street project which is found on page 40.

Steampunk and Art festivals will fix the potholes. Don't expect much from this group, confusion abounds. Other than press releases and costume parties downtown we have grown by one (1) fast food restaurant in a year and half. For those who think the former Home Depot / Target site is developing anytime in the next few years I have a bridge for sale over the canal, call me. Target just walked after assessing the ability and probability of this government having the slightest clue on how to develop that land. Its going to be a parking lot for many years to come. But lets party to Frenchy and the Punk!

Got 4 Million, it could be yours... Our old Target site, they are officially pulling out of Lockport even with the new genius Mayor Streit in charge and all his promises to do get that site going...with his vast business and negotiation skills couldn't he have kept them around? Oh wait, he has no business record, no real estate knowledge or by all appearances never managed anything. It is showing.

for those will try and manipulate that it's not the Target site here is the outdated page from TCB

Steampunk Saturday baby....that's tonight. It's like a GWAR convention. I wonder how many people are actually from Lockport minus the downtown group of 20 or 30 pillow biters? That article in the Legend was so embarrassing. Putting wire loops as "art" in the sewer, I mean canal. I don't recall these campaign promises. How about you Hardliner or should just call you Mayor? Tell me how wrong I am buddy. Until you took over the same blighted burned-out downtown was a blighted burned-out downtown, now its just dreamy. You outed your know-nothing self Steve. I love your goggles and pin-striped suit, did the feather come with the hat? That was your work attire yesterday, imagine what it is tonight.

I wonder if we'll ever hear what the city's expenses/profit (unlikely) will be from this freak show. I kept reading that Canal Days was a success, but have yet to see any numbers and probably never will. I heard from a little bird that they were anticipating taking in $40k on Fri. night of Canal Days and actually only took in $14k. That's real SUCKcessful!

So let's elect another realtor as mayor. You know, the kind who helped throw up (and I DO mean THROW UP) thousands of new housing units with no regard for electricity, water, sewer, or roads. We're still paying for that incompetence with our pot hole riddled and over crowded streets. The guy probably made a fortune. It's great that he didn't get to keep it because he couldn't keep it in his pants. He made his ex a fortune and ended up in his mom's basement. I'm glad his annoying old man is gone.
