What do you think...
Given going over the Fiscal Cliff will severly damage our wounded ecnomy, likely decrease jobs as well as any potential growth, severely weaken our national defense, severely cut many entitlements, and raise tax's on everything and everyone.
Anything missing there?

Is Obama right in forcing this to happen? Why is he unwilling to accept the revenue GOP offers in lieu of tax inceases?

Should the GOP stand their Grond (representing nearly 50% of America, the earners)?

Should Obama drive us off the cliff to impose tax's (representing 47% of America, the takers)?

If we dont go off the cliff we will never get spendig under control. It's a good step in the right direcon. I believe I mentioned a long time ago they would do this. Blame each other and take us right over.

Obama is not the one driving us off the cliff. He is not forcing anything.

At this point I agree UNI.... Both sides are too cowardice to actually propose the needed cuts, and do it intelligently. So take the cliff!

So you believe that all of the 47 % choose to be there. I don't know your situation but if you or spouse or child loses a job through no fault of yours, woud you take govt assistance? This attitude is why the GOP is doomed.

Your missing the point (and you did not read those articles). In many cases people need the help and get it, in many cases people do not need it and still get it. Like SS for example. Many folks get a great pension, or are wealthy. Look at say Saas in NL. He will get 80% of his $225k as a pension. Does he really need his wife's full SS payments? The point is, today 47%(or more) are taking, and the "makers" have $29,000,000 not working to boot. We can't keep allowing politicians to give away what we don't have to give. We are borrowing $0.46 for every dollar the Government is spending today, and that's at the very low interest rate we have. If the interest rate rises, we are screwed and nobody wins. In reality, we are doomed because takers can only see themselves, not because those in the GOP are being real about the situation. People can vote who ever they want, and usually vote for the guy giving them stuff free, like Obama. But it's not free to those paying the bill, whom are rapidly becoming the minority in numbers.

In the case you mentions, the wife paid into SS. What his pension is has nothing to do with Obama. He negotiated an emplyment agreement. I dont dispute that government spending needs to be addressed, however to lump 47% of the population as 'takers' in my opinion is a weak statement.

Factual though. Remember, for every dollar the Government spends, it needs to take $1.60 from someone first. You also say his wife paid, true. But today, people draw far more out than they paid in, which adds to the problem. Means testing is valid.

CA stabbed the wealthy job creators with, in the eyes of Liberals, a well deserved tax increase. The result? CA revenues have declined, and the job creators have and are leaving the state. Anyone with intelligence is not surprised, but apparently the Liberals running tyhe state are.

Plus, I listened to a financial expert board discuss the 2013 impact of the Obama tax increases in 2013. They agreed that instead of investing here, one will move their money to China or India, where tax is much less, and economic growth is much more. They stated it's logical to put your capital where it is treated best. So, Obama's destroy America plan is right on track.

The next four years are going to be crushing. I will survive due to being an old fat conservative white male who has positioned himself in great financial shape. I predict that the majority of the Americans who will be crushed by Obama will be his supporters. That will make me very happy:-)
