Thanks for the info. I was wondering and having a heck of a time finding that information. Maybe we should pay a little more and get someone worth voting for.

It's a power grab. Some people want to drink openly in the streets around here - again. They want the bar seat racer to be legal on the streets again. They want more decline and less improvement. They want to further seclude Manhattan from the greater Chicagoland area. They want to deal to Manhattan - Only. Paying more for a moayor will not liberate Manhattan. You are searching for a candidate that has the will the liberate the citizens. That person is out there. That person is definately ready, willing and able.

Where I moved here from it was all volunteer. I was on the city council for four years and never collected a dime other than being reimbursed for travel etc.

It's all about greed now not about community.

Sounds like the servitude performed for a condominium association. All work and no pay. And no respect either. Compensation is a very important component. Not only is it part of the foundation of this country, it commands and delivers a certain amount of respect for one's position in life.

Sometimes. Sometimes your sentiment is right on. And sometimes it is not. All part of the human condition. People are by no means perfect.

Spoken like a true Democrat.

Pride in community, and willing to volunteer your time is worth more than money. Unfortunately too many people think like you now, and that is why we end up with the Politicians we do end up with. Greed is the motivating factor, not community pride.

I'm torn on the pay thing. I think that, in today's times, we expect a lot of a mayor(just look at one person's rant about Borgo not remembering to end a liquor license). That takes time away from their own lives and jobs and I don't think it's fair for them to lose out on income due to mayoral responsibilities. On the other hand, yes, it is our duty to take care of our town. I think the bigger problem is lack of attendance at town meetings. If we, the people, attended meetings the trustees and mayor would have to be more aware, honest, etc. WE are the police of the city council. I, myself, plan on going to more meetings now that I am finishing my masters degree and will have a little more time.

You know what...you are right. The people are the police of their government. Am I allowed to make a citizen's arrest on Mr. Biscan then? Oh, I guess I can't because he's not in politics right now, he just wants to be in politics. Good luck to you Mr. Biscan. If you do get in, I'll be looking to make that citizen's arrest.
