I had a friend renting in the windmere west ii condos. 2 bedrooms, plus a basement they used as a 3rd. For 1250. Not a bad place. Lots of rentals in there these days.

I think there was one on Central Road right off Cedar with a sign in the yard. Sometimes you have to take a ride around because they don't always advertise other than a sign in the yard. There is also a house that goes for rent every now and again on Cedar near the light at Illinois Hwy. It's a house or two down from the light across from the gas station. For what you want to pay you're probably going to have to consider one of the condos in Windermere. They are decent.

Thanks Donald Trump. If you only knew how serious I was and how much I am stressed out and what my family has been through over the past year, you might rethink your unhelpful comments. I just don't understand why anyone bothers to post at all if it's just plain ignorant.
But really, thanks for your help! Hope you get it in return as soon as possible.
I'm not really sure why rent would be SOOOO high for a little house out here. We live on almost an acre with a two story house and a 2.5 garage and our mortgage was 1920. Unfortunately, like I said, due to many many family issues, we couldn't afford it anymore and had to short sale. I'm heartbroken, but I know we busted our butts to try to keep up. I had a very sick baby at home that prevented me from working full-time for almost a year and a half, so my husband and I worked opposite shifts. I know we gave it our very best efforts.
I know a lot of people on here like the drama and don't care about hurting other people's feelings, but I am not one of them. I have two little kids and I'm trying to make the best of what went really bad. So, if you are going to leave me something negative, I REALLY can't handle that right now. Really.

Anyhow, sorry. I know I didn't have to explain my life story, but I appreciate the helpful comments. I do drive up and down the streets. In fact, that's how I've found a lot of rentals. I'm going to spend the whole day Saturday doing that.
These forums can be really helpful, so I gave it a try. I'll exhaust all avenues. Thanks again for the suggestions

I so agree with you about people who make nasty postings. This should be a helpful forum - not a nasty one.
Try checking out this website: http://www.homefinder.com/rentals/
You can then insert the town you are looking for and then see what is for rent - they currently have 9 listings in New Lenox
- some single family homes and some condo's/townhomes. Good luck in your search.

Best of luck to you and your family. I hope you find something quickly. Disregard the idiots that are miserable in their own lives leaving stupid comments that they think are funny.`

Got another place in Mokena. It has separate quarters for the maid and driver. Looking to get $850/month.

If you have 2 little kids the Windermere condos would probably work for you especially if you want to stay in New Lenox. They aren't bad. Most have a finished basement and all of your yardwork is taken care of. It doesn't have to be a permanent situation, but a place to stay while you get things sorted out. Take a drive through the neighborhoods with the condos and there are probably signs up. There is a little house on Pine that had a for rent sign up. It was close to Pine and Haven. Honestly, I think you would be happier in a condo because the condos are newer. You would probably rather have a newer rented condo than an old house with problems.

Not sure of your area preference, but there is a home for rent on 173rd in Tinley. A block or so west of Ed & Joe's.

I'm going to see a house in tinley tomorrow actually. Maybe it's the same one. I don't know what it is about new Lenox, that makes me want to stay here. I'm from the city, born and raised until I moved out here exactly 7 years ago and started a family. I guess I'm getting old and resisting change more :p.
I have been checking on those condos. We took a 20 min ride through them and nothin :(. I even called on one that was for sale to see if they would be willing to rent instead, but no dice. There is one available that I like, but does not accept pets and I'm not tossing them in a shelter because I like new Lenox.
Going to see a house today and one tomorrow, wish me luck but keep the suggestions coming. Thank you

Have your agent check the MLS for you today. There is a 3 bedroom house for rent in NL in the MLS for $1,300 and the listing says they will accept pet with deposit.

That's where you have to roll your own garbage a block to be picked up. I know a family in there that hates it and there has been a lot of crime in that area.
Check outbthe New Lenox Patch about the house deck set on fire and a rash of gang graffiti:

While you and your broker are searching you may have to make a plan B. Perhaps get a 2-3 BR suite at TownePlace Suites Marriott Joliet for a week or three, start moving everything into storage at A-1 Will county storage right now with a uhaul and keep looking hard for a rental. Ask the broker to look in Manhattan too.
Also try to extend the Closing date for a week...Good luck man...and never vote Republican again.

I actually saw that house. It's teeny tiny and WAY BETTER looking in the pics. Plus they left about 3 months worth of dog crap in the yard. I'm not trying to be picky, but gross. I manage a 6 flat in Crestwood (for 5 years now) and we make sure the apartments look immaculate before renting. I've seen some houses in NL with holes in the walls missing tiles on the floor, just filthy. And, they are asking in upwards of 1600.00.??!! That just kind of blows my mind.

That's a good idea. Thankfully our buyers are very understanding and have offered us an extra couple of weeks if we need it. I was thinking about getting a pod at least so we aren't scrambling to move last minute. Moving is so not fun!

Try Homer Glen. NL is a toilet compared to Homer and there are many houses for rent. We just rented an 8000ft home for $2500. Pool, 6 bed/bath, elevator etc.. A lot of owners wanting to rent instead of getting foreclosed.

I don't think NL is a toilet, but regardless I have not seen one house come up for rent in homer glen. Not one.
