I don't know how long you have lived in Manhattan but I have been here my entire life. The only vendetta I have is against liars, cheaters and nepotism. I am well aware of where he lives. My point is he carries a lot of weight here in town. He is Manhattan's voice in Springfield and Washington. The appointment of his son to this post has an impact on every public school in Will County. Do not tell me that there was not a better candidate to be found. A search should have been done. Hell Manhattan school district did one to replace Butters. Do you honestly think this was a good decision to appoint his son? There is so much scandal in this town, county and state it is sickening.

Ohhhh beans and farts...you must be crazy. It's a big deal with Walsh and that family's impact on Manhattan. A really big deal. Big Larry Walsh is only in his position foe two reasons: He is the Democrat choice after his predecessor (Adlemann) crashed and burned and subsequently died from his fast lifestyle. Otherwise, I believe that if Adelmann were to have lived and been able to pass on the County Executive torch, he would not have handed it over to Larry Walsh. It is a big deal and Larry Walsh's political moves installing his relatives in office is a giant big deal. Hugh matter of of conflict and very troublesome.

Walsh's predecessor was Republican incumbent Mikan, who he ran against in 2004. He won that year and has continued to since then. Evidently the majority of Will County residents do not see it your way.

I stand corrected. It was Mikan for less than a full term, right? Hence the error of my ways. Will County is democrat mostly because of it's minority population (black / hispanic / rest of a mixed bag). In no way could it be considered white - republican - conservative such as DuPage County. Therefore, Walsh does not win elections based upon his human genetics but upon that manufactured trait, Democrat spend-aholics and deal-aholics syndrome. Everytime I hear of Lipinski, I get chills. Walsh is only taking Lipinski moves and taking that to the tenth degree. Doesn't make it right or proper and leaves me in a very defensive mode.

Can't believe a part-time employee gets paid like that. No wonder we are always getting screwed. I hope that reporter digs deeper and exposes more. Only problem is, not many in town even read the manhattan paper and will never know.
The reporter can dig deeper, but will have to do it on her own time....I hear that she was fired over her editorial....unfortunate.

If she was fired, then that would probably be appropriate. A reporter reports the news and by ethics does not inject personal opinion while reporting said news. I know, that a tough thing to reconcile here in Manhattan, but you have got to be disciplined. Even when chaos is rampant and the order of day. Not much has changed around here over the past 100 years.

She got her job back and I'm glad she spoke her mind. This is what shows you what kind of Person the Mayor is.He stuck his nose in where it didn't belong and it backfired. Welcome back Erin.

Erin showed she is and never will be nothing more than a Manhattan American reporter. Boy, such high aspirations. I read the article and laughed how Doyle slanted it was. Erin, you married into the Gallagher family.....another BIG Joke in Manhattan!

"Story Writer" must be Bill Borgo. Your nasty sarcasm and personal attack is proof. Just look at all the people who wrote letters against him (you) in the Manhattan American. It seems you're getting b-slapped all over the press. Guess you couldn't get her fired after all.

Maybe the town needs two newspapers. One prints with a Doyle slant. The other prints with a Borgo slant. Personally, I don't read the MA all that much because the truth, or truths, can be easily ascertained by being out and about and keeping a keen eye and ear open. And why waste the quarter. I have to put it to use paying for all Doyle's mistakes and paying for Borgo's mistakes. It a never ending collection of money, kind of like going to Catholic church.
