I read today the 3rd candidate is trying to get Borgo and Doyle's petitions invalidated on techinicalities.

That doesn't seem like a good way to gain Manhattan's confidence. I say let the people decide at the ballot.

I like a lot of what the 3rd candidate has to say and will still look at him, but he needs to back down on the invalidation thing.

Mark Wojcik-Gray. I get emails from him at times on issues. Was looking good until this petition stunt... now I'm not sure. I don't think technicalities should prevent voters from having a choice....that's not a democracy.

You have to comply with the law. Those that don't should not whine.

A petition circulator must complete and sign the statement at the bottom of each sheet certifying that the signatures on that sheet were signed in his presence and are genuine and that to the best of his knowledge the persons so signing were duly registered voters of the political subdivision or district at the time of signing for which the candidate or candidates shall be nominated and that their respective residences are correctly stated therein. This statement shall be sworn to and signed before some officer authorized to administer oaths in Illinois.[10 ILCS 5/7-10, 8-8, 10-4]
A registered voter must sign the petition in his own person. He may not sign for someone else, such as another member of his or her own family.[10 ILCS 5/7-10, 10-4]
Petition signers shall indicate on such petition their residence address, written or printed, including the street address or rural route number, as well as the city, village, or town. The address on the petition must be the signer’s voter registration address.[10 ILCS 5/7-10, 10-4]
Signatures may be struck from the petition by the circulator or the candidate prior to filing in the following manner:
1) The person striking the signature shall initial the petition at the place where the signature is struck.
[10 ILCS 5/7-10, 10-3]
2) The person striking the signature shall sign a certification (SBE Form P-2A); listing the page and line number of each signature struck from the petition. Such certification shall be filed as part of the petition.[10 ILCS 5/7-10, 10-3] 3) The person striking signatures from independent and nonpartisan candidate petitions shall also sign an additional certificate (SBE form P-2B) specifying the number of certification pages listing stricken signatures which are attached to the petition and the page numbers indicated on such certification. This additional certificate shall be filed as a part of the petition, shall be numbered consecutively beginning with the number “1", and shall be attached immediately following the last page of voters’ signatures and before the certifications of stricken signatures.[10 ILCS 5/10-3, 10-3.1] All of the foregoing requirements are necessary to effect a valid striking of any signature. The provisions authorizing the striking of signatures shall not impose criminal liability on any person so authorized to strike signatures which may be fraudulent.[10 ILCS 5/10-3]

I know that Doyle wanted that subdivision and I agree that it wouldn't have been good. BUT...I think that "Lifetime Resident" should consider Doyle is a lifetime resident also and after being mayor for 12 years possibly got into a rut. I think these past four years have opened his eyes to all the possibilities that are out there and gave him a fresh and new direction, not Borgo's way, but maybe a new Doyle way. I voted for Jamie in the past 4 elections and I will support him again. I believe he has what it takes to turn this town around and pointed in the right direction by caring for important issues and not landscaping. Borgo is too busy trying to look pretty for the cameras.

I don't know the first thing about these people. I've been here a couple years and the current mayor seems okay. I do think he could have spent some money and put a new facade on that ugly blue eyesore. How do we get info on these guys? What are their plans?

The current Mayor Seems ok???? Holy cow. Where have you been? Ive been here over 20 yrs and I have never seen this town so down on itself. The Mayor, Robinson Engineering, Village Adm and Finance director are running the financial mismanagement show here. These guys are jamming stuff down the residents throats they don't want. I suggest everyone be at the Q & A Session at the Jr. High March 18th 2009 and see what an arrogant person Borgo/Blago really is.

Doyle and the rest of the administration were entertaining the developer at the time because they had to. They have to give everyone the time to present their idea. Borgo spun that in the last election like he spun the last 4 years of crap coming out of his mouth. I wanna know why we have a village engineer and Borgo is ready to write the check to an engineering firm named Robinson for 400,000 yeah 400,000 to tell us what we already know regarding many projects. Tel everyone you know to be a the meeting at the Jr High March 18, 2009 6:30 PM Q & A Session

If you vote for the new guy you'll loose your financial ass. He is a consultant. The only thing consultants do is spend other peoples money. I suggest you do your homework on this guy. Do yourself a favor and show up at the meeting March 18, 2009 Jr High 6:30 PM

Borgo wants to increase the budget in an already shrinking economy.

Borgo has given money to Robinson Eng. to do work that our engineer is supposed to be doing.

Our village engineer is in cahuts with Robinson

Borgo is in cahuts with waste management

Borgo does not have a proper check and balance system in the village hall regarding finances

Borgo talks down to people if they are of the working class

Borgos gotta go nuff said.
