Right. No one cared. Slightly less than half the vote came out last November on that Tuesday. They woke up, placed their vote and promptly took up residence on a bar stool. Way to go Manhattan.

maybe if you got of your fat asses and put the computer away, and went out,you would notice quite a few of the surrounding towns, also have them still up.You and your neighbors most likely still have them up too.Quite a few homes still up.So I guess you can blame Doyle for that.Challenge for all you whiners, there is an election coming up. Since you have all the answers and can do better, then join Pat Lucas and Don Hunt and put your name on the ballot.Better yet, just frickin LEAVE

nobody will ever vote for the gas station guy. No experience no ideas not even close to a leader. Lucas well everyone already knows about her. So the town is still screwed if that's the choices we are given. Sad but true

Hate to say it...you're right. Is Lucas trying to take out Naughton's seat? Or Beemsterboer? Beemer only won by three votes last time around. There is a silver lining to all this. Interest in cleaning up Village government is at an all time high. That's good for Manhattan.

I've been involved with politics most of my adult life, I've been very successful in helping build up my former town, being I've only been here 5 years would it even be worth my time to try and run for office, since it seems to be the same "establishment" that has been running things for years? I know it's difficult when a town is run by a "good ol boys club".

if you have experience , by all means run. Last election was a joke. Newbies mad about high taxes ousted Borgo , not realizing the taxes were high mainly because of Doyle's previous dealings, and because Gibson was WAY overpaid. The only other choice was mike a with no experience. So everybody figured hey Borgos taxing us to death , mike a has no experience. What are you left with ? Unfortunately Doyle. But I'm pretty sure everybody is on to his do nothing attitude and he won't be elected EVER again. So go for it

The real EXPERIENCE of elections in Manhattan is the residual effect of the following four years. As for taxation and Borgo it seems more that pressure was put upon Manhattan to adopt the ways of other municipalities. Such as the Waste Management garbage collection, electric energy brokers and local telephone tax on each device. You won't see Doyle dumping any of these measures as the dictate looks to be countywide, if not statewide. The meat and potatos of it all should be the strict use of money collected to obtain the maximum results. Over the past 24 years a whole lot of money has been collected here and hardly nothing has been done with it. And to pay out a large portion of it in salaries was simply infuriating to the voters. So as a consequence to Borgo, that combined with his hard to take personality...it was the end for him. Doyle on the otherhand is exactly as Goforit describes. Right now Manhattan is like a plane in a holding pattern. Dumping fuel so it can land and take off again later.

I agree with you there. My point was all these people that come on here whining about trival things,if they think they can do better and have better ideas,THEN RUN.I just named a couple that have already announced their intention to run.But my bet is all the whiners will continue to hide behind their computers and bitch,no matter what.I rrealize by reading the various threads, that there are a few who just change their screen name from thread to thread, thinking no one will notice.Suggestion when you do that don't bash the same person.

Between Doyle and Borgo over the last 20 years; they gave life to the whiners. And rightfully so.

I change my name every post. I used to use the same moniker , but idiots started posting using my moniker. So now it's new name everytime. It has nothing to do with hiding

The only reason the gas station guy ran is because the village was not giving him the work on town vehicles, RAT boy took that away. So now he got on and he got his work back. Him and Mike have no experience at all. They are Doyle's yes men. The only thing Mr Doyle has done since he got back in office is change the signs as you come into town, force Gibson out and drop the fee off our water bill for the pipeline into Sunset Lakes. Oh wait and buy a building for the police and town hall from Lee Hanson. I wonder what his cut was on that deal? Where is all the new business they spoke about? Still the village has more empty spaces then full ones all to protect the little guy? I say poop or get off the pot to them! It's 2014 not 1955. Time to move with the changes. This town will go no where until we get new business here. Just wait till they build the Illinia extension, Manhattan the new Harvey IL.
