With freedom comes responsibility. Liberals are incapable of being responsible. They need constant oversight of their lives. They look to government for that!

I used to think that Liberals want power in the hands of government, conservatives want power to rest with the people. I have since grown up. Liberals do indeed want power in the hands of government, but conservatives now want power in the hands of corporations. Who stands for the people now?

Corporations? Is this based in fact or what?

As for who stands for the people, it sure ain't Obama and his Justice Department, nor Obama and his EPA, nor Obama and his Internal Revenue Service. Hell, Obama doesn't even stand for his overseas diplomatic ambassadors, especially in hostile countries of his own making.

Corporations? You don't believe that? What government controlled nation stands up for its people? China? North Korea? Cuba? Who fed this propaganda?

I like that Mr. P. China! Hah! Are you trying to be funny? I don't think that lone guy standing in front of that tank in Tianneman Square in 1989 was being supported by the Chinese government. You are so right.

My question exactly. Who stands for the people of America? Lately both the Dems and the GOP have been doing nothing but expanding government beyond its original intent. The federal government has been digging its claws into matters it constitutionaly has no business in. Which party really stands for Americans?

Think for a minute, you are a smart man and its not that hard. A freshman congressman may start with his district at heart, but most of the time, Washington gets to them. There are exceptions, but none specificly come to mind.
The goal then becomes re-election, to hold onto the power he has. Maybe even run for the Senate. This takes money both from private donors and corporations. Do you think corps are going to donate tons of campaign cash and not expect a quid quo pro? How much do you think Douglas aircraft or Raytheon or Borg Warner donate to campaigns? Look at campaign donation records. You think they may have lobbiests whispering into congressmens ears reminding them about the donations when the Feds have a contract up for bid?

I agree that a lot of the Republicans want to be liked by Reid and are pressed by the Republican leaders to follow suit or be punished. Their are some good conservative freshman. I like Cruz & Bridenstine. I don't like YES MEN. The problem is Americans keep voting them back in. The politicians stab them in the back, they pull the knife out, then vote for them again. Putting the knife back in their hand to stab them again. I just don't get it.

Most American voters dont know what their congressmen are voting for anyway. Hell, most Americans dont bother to vote. Thats how we got ourselves in the mess we are in.

I agree. They are all "Low Information Voters" Like I mentioned in another post about New Lenox home rule. My neighbors all voted for it because they were led to believe through propaganda tactics that it would cut their ENTIRE property tax bill in half. When I told them it only applies to the New Lenox portion of their tax bill which is about $200. Their jaws hit the floor. I told them Balderman thanks them for the tax increases they voted for!

Again, given the current state of both parties, who can we vote for to stand for us? I dont know.
Here is an idea. No more career politicians. Term limit congress to two terms like the president. After two terms you can run for higher office if you choose.

Nobody I can think of is worth voting for in Illinois. We really only have a handful of decent politicians in this country. Thank god for them in the house. Could you imagine if Obama was allowed to push his will on this nation? That Alinsky dictator would have burned the Constitution and had us all living under "Sharia Law" or "Tyranny" or some form of "Communism" by now.
