Yeah, then we can have an abandoned school in the middle of Lockport that will eventually get turned into section 8 apartments after it has sat vacant for 15 years.

Than you can change your name to "Lockport REALLY sucks"

Say no and save a remarkable piece of history that should have been kept up with our tax dollars over the last 15 years. Say yes and have the abandoned building sitting day after day when there was nothing wrong with it in the first place. Say yes and have facilities for 4,900 students when we only have 3,900. Say no and enjoy the addition to East and the restoration of Central that will be sufficient for our current enrollment. I cannot justify and means of this referendum from LTHS's perspective. Our students for the last 100+ years have thrived in the current facilities we have. In fact I remember a time when students were bussed to Central for honors classes from East in addition to having the Juniors and Seniors there as well. I understand where the district may want to step back from Central because the costs look overwhelming, but I would really like to know who came up with the restoration estimation... Was the school or an outside builder. They could really make a great green project out of Central and serve as an example to society against being waist full, recycling, and reusing. I think it is a promising idea.

I'm with you Lockemup, the price of Tea is going up! They have failed to keep the building up. Poor management at the top, misleading the Board or the Board has a blind eye. School's not crowded, enrollment down, new addition to East, feeder schools enrollment down, no need for new school. With a no vote a 300,000 house's tax bill will go down by $234 borrow the money to fix central and the bill goes up $34. Net savings $200 and there is plenty of room.

First how can 85 million be less taxing than 29 million? If they get 20 to 30 million from the state they are going to build a larger school and spend all the extra instead of paying down the bonds. They also said that this is phase one of the project what is phase two three or four.If they spend money on central there would not gain classroom space,in 1977 there were 1300+ students at Central now it can only hold 900.

Would be nice, but will it happen? Why would the state have money for this when they are in debt to most of Illinois's schools as it is? I recently graduated college and when I left the state owed my university nearly 35 million dollars in funding alone. They have the same problem again currently. There is no guarantee. I should also mention I believe that the state funding would supplement the funding from extending the life of the current bond debt. This is turn would allow for the school in Homer to be larger. Look at the numbers people. Enjoy the new addition on East and renovate Central. When this becomes a plan I will gladly support it. Until then people need to stop being blind sided and look at the numbers.

August 2010 between both East and Central Campus ~3,800 students
While ~100 seniors graduated mid year by choice.

East 2,700 (currently)
Central 1,000, but Central at one time held a lot more than 1,000 students. In fact in 97 before the addition I think there were ~ 1,300 Juniors and Seniors there.

*Currently-> The ability to house 3,700 students

East 3,000 (After addition completion in August 2011)& Central
-> ~4,000 Students

Addition on East & New Cedar Road Campus
~4,900 seats..... Why????? when there are 3,800 students and enrollment in in decline within the feeder schools.

Thanks for your time.

Oh, aren't we all looking forward to April 5th and the returns that will show another impressive defeat of Raymond's legacy project and Homer's quest for segregation. I'm ordering a pizza Tuesday night. I'll be eating your new school, you nitwit.

You are exactly right, my whole family is voting NO and everyone I know is voting NO. The older people I know know that it is a trick and they are not going to vote for it. So much for Mr. Raymond's Resume when he quickly retires and moves away.

You are absolutely correct and I don't know if you are aware of this but Giordanoís filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year. It turns out that they overextended themselves in the real estate market by building new stores down and Florida and when the market and economy went belly up so did they.

Funny isnít it? It reminds me a lot of what the clowns at 205 have been trying to do now for the last 6 years. Taking something that works and overextending it in the worst economic downturn since the great depression with the end result being economic disaster. Only instead of shuttered pizza restaurants we will be left holding the bag on a mega building filled at a third of its capacity for the next decade.

No Thanks! VOTE NO AGAIN!
