Don't drink and drive, then the cops cant bust you. Pretty simple to me. I have never, and no one I know has ever, chosen a restaurant based on the police in the town. Get a DD, party it up, and have a good time wherever you want. I don't get the point you are making.
Old farts like you don't go out after dark anyway. My generation likes to stay out late, drink, do drugs, and have sex. The VFW ain't cuttin it.

Agreed about Portillos. It's not bad but far from the great place it was built up to be. The best beef sandwiches, dogs, etc in the area to me is Pop's.
I'm sure some will argue other places but Pop's gets my vote for flavor and prices.
I grew up on the Southwest side of Chicago. So to me, Portillo's is old school real Chicago style hot dogs. Moved to NL about 12 years ago, and hot dogs here are way different than what I prefer. I mean, Frostie's was the only place in town smart enough to even steam the buns too. I have tried Pop's hot dogs, and they are typical NL style. So I figure you grew up locally. I've never had Pop's beef though.

I don't get the appeal of Portillo's and why it is always packed. It's overpriced and not very good. You can get better, cheaper food at AJ's down the street or even Badda Bings.
If you aj and buffs bing you'll fall in love with Goodburger or pops. Because ajs and badda bings. Isn't good at all.

Can someone start a shuttle or nl only cab service? Than we wouldn't have to worry about going out for a drink and putting money back into our town.

There is a service called The Paddy Wagon I believe. They'll drive you home and another guy follows in your own car.

I used to enjoy a JR's weiner when I lived on SW side of Chicago. There was one on 63rd near Kostner and another on Kedzie by Archer.

Two more closed resturants on RT 30 - Papa Joes and Pizza Hut
