Maybe Lockport should hire this management company to run our festivals.

I think Logjam did pay Balderman to consult for their event. Logjam really was modeled after the New Lenix event.

In theory Logjam should have been a similar success, but clearly it was not.
Truth be told

Balderman is scam artist. Yes he was hired by the gal running the chamber the time. You do the math if you know the situation. He took the money like he has a pattern of doing and walked away. He cashed out jackpot style on workman's comp for "hurting" his back while he was a police chief now and has a six figure gravy job with a New Lenox school district (major conflict of interest). Too ill to sit behind a desk at the PD but well enough to sit behind a desk at a public school. He is triple dipper who hasn't put a solid day of work in for decades. Several articles were published about this in various papers, look it up. Nobody had the stones to call him out about his scam at log jam. All roads lead back to the woman who was "running" the chamber at the time. He one of the thousands of people that have bankrupted Illinois, past, present and future. Take a look a the site that lists the salaries for Illinois Bureaucrats and you will find out who lives in these Mc-Mansions all over the burbs.

Mary Kay Campbell was a fine lady and worked hard. She is not the blame that it was not marketed correctly and look where it was held. Golly! It should have been at the Athletic Field. The people would come out if it is hometown and accessible. The weather was poor as I recall too. Go Chamber! Contact other cities in Illinois that have festivals and see what they do before venturing again. St. Charles hold a beautiful festival, well attended, right in the city. It is one wonderful event. We can have it here too but not out in the sticks!

I totally agree that it was not marketed and the location stunk. It needs to be in town where they would get an overflow crowd and music/booths/food for all to enjoy. It has to appeal to all levels of age groups. It would be a big success. The other Canal Days years ago were successful because they featured booths that had homemade articles and not junk. People can buy junk anywhere but that is why Christmas Crossroads is so successful because it is not your everyday things there. There are real artists there. It should be patterned after that and have music plus entertainment. It could be a fall festival also instead of a June festival. I think the weather has a lot to do with it. Raindates should be included with all that participate. Charge an entrance fee and parking should be free. Charge for booths and get a percentage of the music that is there. People love that sort of thing. It must be marketed correctly. I have been to St. Charles and they hold it around Halloween and with the pumpkins, hayrides, haylofts, and homemade articles the town is booming. It is a delight. There are ways to make money if you know how to market. Hire a good marketing person and pay him to market that and Old Canal Days.

I hope nobody else noticed what a FAT, Pathetic LOSER I am *hangs head* Yes, SIX of the EVEN total posts in this thread are all from me. YES, I even reply to my own posts, just to make it APPEAR that I have friends and people want to talk with me, but it's really just me talking to myself. It's sad, I know, but I have to do whatever I can to keep from throwing myself off a bridge and causing an earthquake. My Mommy was mean to me when I was growing up.....always telling me how ugly, fat, useless and stupid I am, so now I have NO self-esteem. Plus, being gay and in love with the mayor of Lockport doesn't help matters. So,*sigh* this is ALL I have in my sad, pathetic life....being a serial poster on Topix. Well, that and my daily drunken binges.

Wrong again! I AM THE ONLY SERIAL POSTER HERE!! hehehehehe I thought I'd try out chum's name, but everyone can tell that I'm not Chumbalone because Chumbalone is intelligent and his posts have substance, whereas 99% of MY posts are CLEARLY typed by a drunk, gay, retarded hillbilly.
