Accused murderer of toddler is out on Bail!

The accused murderer Gilbert Knowles, who is accused of killing the son of his married girlfriend is now out on bail! Gil was charged with murdering 2 year old Devin Owens in Joliet in september. Devin's mother Julie was also charged with child endangerment and is out on bail also. But not to worry, she is STANDING BY HER MAN apparantly.. What in h$ll is wrong with people these days? Please tell me what kind of woman, would stand behind a man who is charged with killing her son?(oh yea, a crackhead) It was only her and her boyfriend home that night, so one of them killed him.. Some women have NO BUSINESS reproducing. Get your tubes tied while you are out you fool!!

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Another child murderer in Will County is going to be getting out on bail on Dec. 12. Sarah Campbell was given only 3 yrs for killing her child and after serving only 3 mos. will be getting out. She also has another baby and is requesting visitation!! I guess you need at least two bodies before anyone considers it murder!!

It seems letting murderers out with a slap on the wrist is a frightening trend. Another toddler was murdered last year in Will County. Sarah Campbell fed her child a fatal dose of sleeping pills. After serving only 3 mos. of her sentence, she will be released on Dec. 12-to breed again and go after her other helpless baby.

gilbert is innocent untill proven guilty! so get off his case. incase you didnt know SHE passed a polygraph and he has ben cleared of all forensic and dna evidence. His bail was reuced due to there not beeing any concrete evidence against him.

They couldn't hold him on "nothing"! They were going by hearsay and that is not solid evidence! And by the way before I end this!: When they got back the autopsy report.... He wasn't brutally beaten like they thought he was... Now they are lokking at it as the baby falling out of bed!!! And that is the accusers saying this now!!! so get your story straight before you put your two cents in and throw away your damn newspapers because they NEVER tell the truth!!!!!!!!!!

sarah campbell did murder her daughter her drunk husband left the pills out on the coffee table for the little girl to get into after being told to put them away. sarah also has a seizure disorder which her husband was well aware of but he had no problem leaving her with 3 children to take care of while he got drunk. if she was a murderer they would not have given her a deal for neglect its kind of funny shes been in jail for over a year and the piece of shit father who is to blame has been running free i guess thats how the system works though turn on your wife and blame her to clear your own ass sounds like a pathetic guy to me

Most people make their comments based on the facts they are aware of. I only hope that in the future you are able to express yourself with sense and dignity. Thanks for the update, my opinion has always been that it has just been a terrible incident that has happened to these people because no human being would kill.

sure she passed a poly, but what were the questions. were they about that night or were they about her knowing about the abuse that was going on in her house previous to that night. what kind of dna would they have agianst gil if the only person that had blood at the house was devin.

It just seems like this has been forgotten? Wonder why updates on it are not in the newspaper? I'd like to follow the story to see the outcome and see if the person or persons responsible are punished for what they did to Devin.

I saw on the will county page that julie is going to court for using a lamp stick. Does anybody have any updates on this as i know in my heart that gil did not kill this child.

I am anxiously awaiting the outcome of this. I believe all 3 (Gil, Julie, and Brian) should be held responsible!! That poor baby did not deserve this!!! No matter who actually delivered the deadly blows, all were aware of what was going on and no one did anything to stop this poor child's suffering!!! How are these people any different from Christopher Vaughn???

I agree with you, "Punish All Three", I can't believe that no one stepped in to help Devin! It's just so hard to believe that any parent would put themselves before their child?
They should make people go through the same steps that adoptive parents go through in order to adopt a child. They don't just let anyone adopt but there are a bunch of loosers out there having kids! These three individuals should not be parents! They are inmature and very self-centered!
I wish they would put follow-ups in the paper as too what is going on with this case! Does anybody know what the status is on Julie and Gil's case?
