I am a hard working american. Why can't minimum wage just go to $25 per hour? We keep raising it by $1 or by 50 cents. We can nip our situation in the bud by making it $25 per hour.

So what if a coke would go to $5. I can afford it. So what if a cheeseburger at Mcdonalds would cost $7. I can afford it. See what I mean. Think of going in on Monday and your boss telling you your salary is going up by almost $17 per hour!

Let IL set the example for the rest of the country. We have done a great job so far! The only people who would disagree with this are Republicans. They already make more than $25 per our.

Idiotic post. If you want to make $25 plus an hour go college or learn a trade, otherwise you don't deserve it.

How many categories do you want us to lead in? We are already the number ONE murder capital of the country. We are number ONE at fiscal irresponsibility in the country. We are number ONE with the strictest gun control laws in the nation We can't lead at everything. That would be extremely GREEDY of us. We have to allow other states be leaders also. We all win the world is a better place when we are all EQUAL!

I still have no one giving me a real argument about this.

Think of all of the cars being purchased. No one working would be in poverty.

$25 per our should be the least we should make going to work.

See not one good argument against my idea. We need a high minimum wage to make things right in our country. We need to stop the small increases and put this behind us for the next 10years. Its just like the post office. Make stamps $2 each already. Why increase them by a penny 3xs each year?

I am a hard working american and demand a fair wage. really y, you are the one who needs to go back to school. The minimum wage needs to be $25 per hour.

I just thought of something. Im going to run for Mayor of New Lenox. Im going to propose that if you vote for me, I will seek to increase the minimum wage to $25 hour in New Lenox! With all the low information voters out there, I would more than likely be your next mayor! Im seriously thinking about this. Thanks for the idea Jesse!

you nailed it... however I don't think he qualifies to be a low information voter-because he has never voted... he is more like a taker and not a maker.

I don't know if your serious or not but I would be ok with $25 per hour. I am a secretary who once made $17 per our and now I have been reduced to $13 per hour. My company is making more money. I agree,$25 an hour is what I need as a single parent.

My car broke down last month and I missed 2 days of work because I have no extra money to get it fixed. I hink this makes sense to get a raise to $25 per hour.

You need to take a course in economics to understand why it won't work.

Well, you'd no longer be qualified for Food Stamps, or Section 8 housing, or the Obama phone, or the Link Card. It would end up being a monetary reduction to you.

Who does deserve it? How is it that a Wall Street hedge fund trader is worth an income north of a billion dollars a year? At just one billion per year, if he worked 24 hours per day and seven days a week with no lunches or breaks, he would be paid an hourly rate of more than $114,000. Makes you wonder which college he went to, doesn't it? How about corporate CEO's, particularly in the financial services sector, who make salaries of more than $100,000,000 per year plus multimillion dollar bonuses and stock options? What makes them worth it?

How about the Walton family heirs? They preach the virtues of low pay to their employees while they rake in incomes that make them severally among the wealthiest people in the world, never mind the United States. What makes them worth it when they're sitting around the swimming pool, sipping a mint julep and admiring a dividend check? Which college is it that teaches you how to do that? Hell, I already know how to do that. Maybe my mailbox isn't big enough.

With those examples, a lawyer who is tapping you for $350 per hour actually seems pretty reasonable, doesn't it? And someone asking for a mere $25 per hour sounds like a piker after all of that.

While you're pondering those imponderables, you should also ask yourself where all of that cash that the hedge fund traders and financial services CEO's pull down. I'll make it easy. They get it from you in the big upwards wealth transfer, and what makes it possible is that they are economically more sophisticated than you by a magnitude.

They, AKA the 1%, want you to believe that capitalism is the best system that there is, and if you believe it, you would be pretty close to right. But the problem is that the 1% don't practice capitalism. Too big to fail is an anti-capitalistic concept. They work a system that is rigged for them to make you pay, and they're growing wealthy to the point that they can't even count it.

The bottom line is you can either pay people a wage that they can support themselves or you are going to have to take care of them through government funded programs. Once the minimum is set we go up from there as far as what other professions are worth. The bottom is way to low in my opinion. Everyone cant be a business owner, you still need others to do the work.

You are only worth what a willing party, compelled only by his desire to use your product or service will pay. That is all. If the government say I must pay you $25, and I do not see your worth at $25, I simply wont pay you. Then you will have nothing. So go ahead, rally for a high minimum wage with no qualification to have earned it, and enjoy your time off.

John, I am a very hard worker and my employer can afford to pay me the $25. He drives a new BMW to work and get a new one each year. His family also drives nice cars. I deserve the $25 and I am confident my employer could afford it. We really need this now.

If you have employees that have money in their pocket they will be able to purchase a product. If you dont pay your employees the minimum wage set by the goverment, you will have no employees than you dont get the job done and your business will not exist. We gave so many good paying jobs away that what is left has to support the working people.
