While I appreciate the fact the owner decided to open a Portillo's in N.L. I find it hard to beleive he would open one NOW. Route 30 won't be done for 2 1/2 years! I would have waited.
Just like as in west of LWW there is a sign saying "Fuller's Car Wash to open here, just as soon as the construction is finished." This makes more sense to me. I'll be up there too.

Rt 30 is set for completion in October 2013 and Fullers will be west of LWC. They have owned that piece of property for awhile. I'm glad Portillos is opening now. Nice to have something different in New Lenox.

make sure you get a cake shake with your meal. They are so good you can feel your arteries clogging while your drinking one!

Stopped down the street from Portillo's last week for a Hot Dog at that place in the strip mall across from the HS.(Used to be Wydners, now a new place/owner). It advertizes Chicago Style Hot Dogs. Ordered one with everything...the owner asked if I wanted catsup on it? <Big hint it would not be a Chicago Styled Dog huh? With Portillo's now open, I give that new place 30 days before it closes.

First, they gave back the tax break. That's awesome! Kind of a big deal. They didn't have to. Next, they will attract allot of people from the New Lenox suburbs that would normally not come into town. So many other businesses will benefit. And finally, their final employee base will be 150 people. Granted, most of those postions are part time but in these tough times, a job is a job. Don't care too much about the food, which is awesome!- I'm just looking at the economic impact.

How many of those jobs are New Lenox residents?
Last time I went to a portillo's it was like being south of the border!

Why couldn't the New Lenox Portillo's be in a tastefully styled building like the one in Orland. New Lenox doesn't have any class. I'm glad Portillo's is now in New Lenox but come on...and the comment from the board stating that Fuller's Car Wash is going to enhance US 30? What a bunch of country hicks. No class at all. Robin Ellis must have been raised in the hickland of Mississippi.

I don't know where Robin Ellis was raised, but the country hick you should be refering to is Nancy Hoehn, she lives in TEXAS, yes TEXAS. She is the Director of Economic Development.

I think it is either hilarious or sad that people are getting so freakin' excited about this place being open. Hello...this is a chain, there are many others within 30 min. driving distance.

If this is all it takes to get everyone stoked, you need to get out a lot more often!!!

I can wait for the crowds to die down before I pay for an overpriced hot dog.

They have good food and lot more items than just hot dogs. I'm glad they opened up in my community and I hope to see a lot more good "chain" restaurants in New Lenox. I don't want to have to drive 30 minutes for food especially with the high price of gas.
