Motorcyclist killed in collision with pickup

A 23-year-old man was killed Tuesday night when the motorcycle he was riding struck a pickup in southwest suburban Will County.

So sad to hear of their loss. I have aways thought that drivers of automobiles that are at fault in the death of a motorcyclizt should be charged with vehicular homicide.

Sometimes it's the driver of the motor cycle at fault. As a rider myself I have seen plenty of others on the road who drive like maniacs and it's surprising they make it through a ride without getting hit. Not saying that auto drivers are not at fault as we all know a lot of people are not concious of motorcycles around them. In that case something needs to be done. But something needs to be done about the ones who drive a fool and think everyone shold look out for htem because they are on bikes. Shoulders and driving the center line to get around traffic is a NO NO.

Heres the problem. If a car or truck pulls out in front of a motorcycle rider who has the best chance of getting killed? It sure isn't the person in the cage!!!!!

yeah, people have the misconception that motorcycle drivers are more liable (for lack of a better word) to be in an accident... 1. you have to acquire another license, 2. bikes are expensive and so is your life, so why would you risk it and 3. lol, i bet he wasn't on his cell phone. oh yeah and 4. he'd never run into dominicks. and freda must be drivin slow if hes getting passed up! ;D

I do agree in part to what you have said. Some people on bikes do drive like idiots. I my self raced motorcycles for many years, but riding on the street as if it were a race track is just plain stupid.
I've always said that if people what to ride like that they should take it to the race track. I have been laughed at for that, but going like a bat out of hell on the street your just asking for trouble.
I also believe that some people won't go to a track because they are actual afraid because they'll find out their not half as fast as they thought they were.
Myself, I fear riding on the street more then I ever did riding on the track.
