Chamber refuses to release financial records.

The Lockport Chamber of Commerce is refusing to release financial records to the City of Lockport. Andy Coyle, in a written statement, disclosed the decision.

The Chamber of Commerce will be looked upon as an organization with something to hide. It is hard to believe that they would not want to be transparent in this matter, but the facts speak for themselves.

The Chamber board is in complete control. The members no longer vote for board members and therefore, one can assume, the members are only needed for their dues. The actions of this board appear to be for the protection of board members.

The Chamber used to work quite closely with the city and the Chamber events used to be profitable.

I saw Colarelli at the State of the City yesterday.
What a phoney blast of air. If Mary Kay did such a great job then why is the chamber 117 grand in debt? Why haven't they told people who is on the new board?

My friend went to see the computer program of the chamber records, but my friend was told that there wouldn't be a print out available. This whole situation stinks and they are hiding something.

Colarelli said in the Herald news that Streit wasn't on the board during Log Jam, HA!

Stop covering up Colarelli. Tell the truth, if you know what that is.

I heard the records were easily available to chamber members and they were already shown to the city finance guy.

I've also heard that Streit wasn't even on the chamber board when logjam was planned. Please explain how he can be held accountable for something he had no part in?

ANY mention of Streit to associate him with logjam can only be for political purposes and that is disgraceful. Keep it up Turner and you will see a huge backlash from any supporters you may have had.

I was truly on the fence about which ill equipped candidate to vote for, now Turner's camp is making it easy. I would vote for Mickey Mouse first.

I am a chamber member and was on the board some years back. At first I was irate at what happened. Then I spoke to the treasurer and he showed me the books.

I realized then that all of this is much ado about nothing created by Turner for his own gain.

More and more people I talk to see it that way. This is backfiring on Turner and Tom Kelly big time.

And surprisingly, it was no different than when Collarelli and Dev were in the majority yes, yes, yes to raising our taxes.

BOTH sides are useless and we need to vote for candidates who are willing to disassociate themselves from either side.

Don't believe me? Just go to the Will County treasurer's site and look at your five year tax history.

Increased taxes? Turner took a no debt road improvement program and turned it into a $10 million bond. That's right, he added $10 million in debt to the tax payers of Lockport.

Who pays for that SNAFU? That's right, you and me.

The next council and Mayor Streit have their work cut out for them. They will have to undo all the harm caused by Turner and his group.
