<quoted text> What? Maureen and Sue have been 'respectful' when speaking during board meetings? This is like children who behave in front of their parents then bully fellow humans. Come on. Take OFF THE BLINDERS. They are awful, spending, lawyer-hungry, board members. They ridicule others, they challenge nothing. They are useless. I know and pay attention.
I pay attention, too. I've watched the board meetings for many years. If only Channel 6 would show reruns from a few years ago. The eye rolling, snarky remarks, whispering. It was disgraceful and very unprofessional and it was not Broderick or Smith. They're not "useless" board members, it's their futile attempt to rein in spending that is useless. They are both getting a bad reputation for trying to do the job they were elected to do all the while the other members are the ones who aren't doing their job. It's a joke. I remember the days when parents flooded the board room fighting for their kids education and stood up to the board and the administration for wasteful spending. Now we have a group of parents who are more concerned about pleasing the superintendent and the teachers union. I'm glad my kids were educated when New Lenox had Blue Ribbon Schools. That's what drew people to this community many years ago. This district is still riding on the coattails of those days. When is the last time District 122 had a Blue Ribbon school?

Looks like Tim's friends & spenders are afraid they will lose their majority if Kathy can't run. <Follow the money & Timmey

Plus if Kathy & DeSandro are Tim co-horts, I think that means they are GOP'ers. At least Tim was GOP in his first mayoral election, and his desire to run for GOP sentate seat.

The dust is clearing I think?

What was done to Broderick and Smith was an organized lynch mob, although you will never admit it. In your warped mind you justify it by saying they had it coming. It's gang mentality and it's disgusting. I am so fed up with some of the people in this community right now I could puke. It scares me to think you people are parents and educators. What a great way to teach your children and students on how to deal with people you don't like or agree with. You parents are the same ones who rush up to school when one of your little darlings isn't being treated the way you think they deserve to be treated. You teachers are the same ones who punish the same behavior in the classroom or on the play ground. A bunch of friggin hypocrites!

It really does make you wonder, doesn't it?

If they act like this, what kind of morals are they raising their children with? What are they teaching their children?

And those children are our future?

I think some of you have gone mad. She cant stop lying. She costs the district thousands every year and you blame the person who outs her for fraud. You think because she asks questions that she protects? She fails.
You will all see as this unravels that she is no protector and has cheated you all.

To answer your question, the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT did away with "Blue Ribbon Schools". While it lasted, we had several. Pay attention. The District RIDES on good teachers, good staff, good administration. Nobody is pleasing the Super, nobody is pleasing the Union. It's all about the KIDS. Too bad Broderick and Smith continue to pull from that pool. They are to blame.

I agree with Mr."Neighbor" 100 %. The Election Board in New Lenox made the right call and correctly removed this person from the ballot. Here in Crest Hill, we have two candidates that made errors on their petitions, one didn't even get the petition notarized, so their friend the City Clerk ( also up for election )
calls them up and tells them they made errors on their petition and tells them to fill out new ones. Long story short, it was objected
to, the election board voted 2 to 1 in favor to keep them on the ballot. The two votes to keep her on the ballot came from yep, the City Clerk and the City Clerks father who is an alderman on the election board. Politics at it's finest !! What a shame !!!

I'm seeing a pattern here, too. Make a public mockery of someone you don't agree with. Shame on all of you who took part in that. Why wasn't this done in private session? It's absolutely despicable that this was allowed to go on by the board president and Dr. Sass. It would have been one thing if the claim against Mrs. Miller was false but it wasn't. Just because you didn't like the outcome was no reason to treat two outstanding board members in such a disrespectful way. I remember how this board was run a couple of years ago and absolutely nothing has changed. A few new players, same game. So much for campaign promises. One thing I can say for Maureen Broderick and Sue Smith, they have always been respectful when speaking during board meetings. I'm sorry to say this board is no better than it was before. I hope the new candidates are watching carefully and are going to bring positive change if elected.
Please pay attention and note the real issue here. Maureen Broderick cannot, repeat cannot, be the one lodging the complaint and sitting in judgement. It's been proven and clear that both complaints were written by the same person and that person was Maureen. It's shameful and unethical that Maureen would make the play that she did. It's the iChat of the public to know what she did. Full public disclosure. This isn't about not liking the outcome of Kathy Miller or the notary making a mistake. End of story.

Oh really? Is that what they're telling you these days in the district? Maybe you better educate yourself a little because the National Blue Ribbon School Program is still around. Go ask the 2012 Illinois winners, Bryan Middle School in Elmhurst and Charter Oak in Peoria. You lie and then you expect people to believe what you are posting about Maureen and Sue?
Now answer my question, I asked when the LAST TIME a Dist. 122 school was a Blue Ribbon School? Have we ever been given this award since Dr. Sass took over the district? You want to blame that on two board members who have never held a majority position on this board during their whole time serving? OMG! Are you for real?

I watched it earlier this morning. I believe the meeting was handled professionally even though I disagree with many of the "opinions" given. Kudos to Mrs. Broderick and Mrs. Smith for maintaining composure during the criticism of their behavior and professionalism. It is very apparent there is bias on this board along with a majority who stick together like glue. One board member who is running for re-election was a shining example of what is wrong with this board. Do your homework before you vote in April. The following is from the Board of education website. Role of School Board Members....School board members are elected to represent the citizens of a school district. School board members are responsible for:
*The employment and evaluation of a Superintendent
*Establishing policies and procedures
*Monitoring the progress of the district
*Adopting an annual budget for the district and approving expenditures
*Employing school personnel upon the recommendation of the Superintendent

"Represent the citizens" is key and so is "adopting and approving all expenditures". Being a school board member is a huge responsibility. Their decisions determine the quality of education our children receive, the value of our homes and the reputation of our schools. We need a positive change on this board not more of the same that has been going on for a decade.

Hey Neighbor you just might be "hitting" on what's really going on. Let's go back two years ago. Phil Adair was running for School Board Member in 2011.“They” held court on Adair.

The co-horts” got together and "held court" on Adair, it would seem because they were very fearful that Adair would mess up their plans to keep the YES TEAM in the majority.

“They” tried to get Adair kicked off the ballot. Adair’s nomination petition was objected to by a NL resident. There was 3 members on the Electoral Board - Smith, Marcus, Martino. They ruled in Adair’s favor. His name was not removed from the ballot.

NOW, who did Niki Sanders, who filed the Kathy Miller objection, learn the “DIRTY TRICK” from? Could it be the “YES-TEAM?”

What a farce -“they” do not like someone playing their game. And, now, they are trying to castrate Broderick and Smith for playing their game. They are smearing their names at an open board meeting.

It seems you are a little confused...this is GOP "against" GOP.

Several years ago "the YES-TEAM" tried destroying Broderick in an open meeting - SASS tried his best to turn teachers and voters against Broderick - he READ several pages at an open board meeting...probably approximately 15 - 20 minutes. "They" have tried their best to make her look bad. "They" packed the board room with teachers - don't forgot, Sass is the teachers BOSS. There is often things teachers must do to stay in good standing with administration, like sitting in board meetings as his supporters. He did it then - now in 2013 has he packed the board room again.

Sass tried, but it didn't work though. The voters know - they voted Broderick back on the board in 2011. We DO know who has our interest at heart. We DO know she does her homework.

This time, SASS didn't directly do it, the members DeSandro, Kedzior, Pender, Martino's have chastized her (and Smith) at the open meeting.

They want to get rid of the two members who keep asking the "wrong" questions - Broderick and Smith.

YOU LADIES HANG IN THERE - THIS HAS TO BE HORRIBLE FOR YOU TO ENDURE! KEEP PLAYING "THEIR" GAMES...

Interesting, NL voter. When does Sass retire, how long is Baldrrmann's tenure at Union, and what will the make-up of the board be a the time decisions need to be made on administration staffing at 122?

Not sure - I think his contract calls for 2014 retirement and then Manville has been promised the position. If I understand correctly, it will cost the district big bucks if the position is not turned over to her. And, not sure if this is true, but I have heard that things can only get worse with her.

Even though the position is Manville's, one has to wonder how Baldermann will get the position. He has almost zero education experience but yet he landed a top position in education. Union School Dist. has one bldg.- 110 students according to the Southtown Star 6/12/12. He has a three-year contract @$127,000 as a TOTAL NOVICE. He was NEVER EVER employed in a full time position for any school district, NEVER held a teaching position - started at the top. One Union Dist. Board Member said (to quote the Star) Baldermann -- who was fifth on the board's list of five final candidates -- was being 'rammed' down their throats. He won the position with a 4-2 board member vote.

So, I guess if one can pull that off, they could easy pull off whatever else is in the works.

God help us all in New Lenox if this was even a remote possibility. And, let's not call the Superintendent position at UNION a 'top' position.

It IS the TOP position...may be with a very small district, but it is the top position at that School District.

Perhaps you do not think it is a desirable position, but many people who have been in education for several years, earned their Masters & type 9 certificate would be glad to get their start in administration at Union.

Baldermann is starting out without ANY experience in education.
