Could this really be true? Lockport could actually have train service NOT only at morning/evening commute times? Short sighted to think there are not other shifts that workers need transportation for or that families would want to have the use of public transportation to attend events, zoos, museums, sports, whatever attracts them in the city of Chicago? When asking Metra the response has always been that the ridership isn't there, but myself and others I know simply use stations in other towns like New Lenox or Orland to get into the city. Add the trains and I bet you'll see the riders appear....

Please excuse Trout, it is not the real one. People seem to like using our names to write smut. I'm sick of it. I don't believe ridership would be there to cover the cost of running trains in the middle of the day. It would be nice to have 1 or 2 more in the mornings and 1 or 2 after 6:00PM. for those of us that work later.

Most people from Lockport go to New Lenox or Orland Park, because there is only 3 trains in and three trains out, so if you miss the last train home maybe Trout can pick people up with his fancy car heshe talks about!

You are absolutely correct. I took the train from New Lenox into the city for years because Lockport doesn't have enough trains coming in and out. You are also right about attending events downtown. We used to take the train downtown for events in the evening, but you can't do that to the Lockport station.

It would be nice to have our trains come as often as other local areas.

Lockport and the other communities along the Metra Heritage Corridor are all working together to get improved commuter train service. Of the eleven Metra service corridors, The Heritage Corridor has, by far, the poorest service. What they are asking for from the RTA and Metra in 2010 is:
A 4th morning and evening rush-hour train
Mid-day trains on weekdays
Saturday service
A new station in Romeoville
This effort to get better service for the Heritage Corridor communities is to be commended, not condemned. Metra has been ignoring the needs of these communities; applying political pressure to Metra for improved service is the appropriate step.

Romeoville is already moving forward with the train station. Citgo donated the land to the Village for over 500 parking spaces. I also heard the Village is a finalist for a federal grant that will pay for most of the project.

I see your strategy. You think after all of the stunts you participated in with Trout, that we can have an intelligent discussion at this point?

You have taken the time to type out death threats and mock those you disagree with. You are a sick person, Diane. Sick. You disgust me.

It has also been stated by Quiet Contractor that you work at the Park District. So in essence, you use a publicly owned computer to make such threats? Is that what this all boils down too? I am certain you will move to an immediate state of denial, but what you are doing here is very clear, nonetheless, Diane Seiler.

You are a disgusting person.

And you are an absolute liar. I have NEVER threatened anyone on this site, you and quiet contractor are the same idiot and the worst thing I have ever said on this site is coming up next - YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE DICK.

I actually agreed with you on a point and you can't even take the high road. Dude, you have some serious problems. You have just proven that all you want to do on here is cause trouble and not be a part of the conversation. If we told you the sky was blue or Obama was the greatest president ever, you would argue with us and take the other side, just to be a DICK. We get it, you are a DICK.

As someone who disagrees with you on just about every other issue on here, I agree with you about the trains. Our residents have to go to other cities just to take a train when we have one in our own back yard. This is ridiculous, but only if it is self sufficient. I don't believe we should add more trains if they aren't making the money off the ones that are here now. We are definitely under-served by Metra in this area.

By the way, still not Diane, don't work for the park district, have never worked at a bank and never ran for political/school board office in Lockport or any town.

My computers are owned by me, paid for by me and earned by me. You should figure it out some day, many of us are self sufficient and have earned our own way.

Really a nice way to start the day Lockport Opinion. Your comment was uncalled for.

Another comment like that, and I am calling the police for harassment. I will press charges if I am left with no other option. I am a self-sufficient person who does the best I can. I am sick of you, Hardliner, and Trout making racist statements against me.

FYI, I have forwarded several of your comments to [email protected] I hope you and Trout are going down bigtime.

Perhaps now is the time for you to humble up, and send out that apology. You can still set yourself apart from Trout, by doing so.

I'm sorry, only sorry I didn't say more. Do you really think anyone is going to come after me for calling you a DICK? You are hysterical. I wonder what the penalty will be? Maybe they will even give me an award for stating the obvious.

Forward away idiot. I can't wait for the White House to respond. Do me a favor and hold your breath until you get a legitimate response. I would also like you to find ONE instance where I have said anything racist.

I would love to see more train times for the Heritage Corridor line. I currently drive to New Lenox everyday to take train in. To be honest, distance wise, it's not a big deal to me (on both the Lockport end and the downtown end), but if it would bring more people to the downtown Lockport area, it will have a trickle effect to the local businesses. For that reason, I would switch to taking the Heritage Corridor.

I say we all make a serious commitment to ignoring his posts, regardless of what he says or how inflammatory his posts are. I'm not sure I can do it, but I am surely going to try.

Well, I'm actually traveling today and not postign from Chicago like I normally do, but interesting that you have co-opted my posting name. Unfortunately I wouldn't do something as naive as emailing the white house my complaints about an online forum, so at least I know you're not me. Thanks for agreeing with my original post thought that the Metra folks need to add trains and service on the Heritage Corridor Line.

And thanks also to trout for exposing his 13 year-old mind yet again (sorry to all the mature 13 year olds out there) by not knowing that if I and all the other riders on the HCline take a big ole train, that is our contribution to decreasing global warming. Sitting on the Stevenson or taking side streets daily, me and thousands of others, is a bigger waste than running one train. I see my original comment has bolstered other rational thinking adults into posting their agreement. Now all of you that agree, drop a line to metra, as well as your city and county officials. If they can find a way to turn a profit running trains to Antioch, Manhattan and Sugar grove, why is it not profitable to run more trains on the HC Line? Could someone explain the concept of profitability vs sustainability to trout? thanks,

Wow this came up at the debate last night. After four years how is the metra doing in lock port? A metra station in Romeoville makes no sense. Let's vote the current trustees out. Same old ideas. We need a fresh look.

You sound as stupid as Carl did the other day at the debate. Why in gods name would you be against having a new station? Are you just an idiot.

Metra management now agrees that there should be more trains on their Heritage Corridor Service, but the freight railroad that owns the tracks, Canadian National, is refusing to allow Metra to put on any additional trains.
The new Romeoville Metra station is supposed to be constructed in 2015, but Canadian National is not cooperating with getting that done, either.
