As you travel tomorrow to wherever look at that store that has a foreign flag out in the parkway. Is this America? The U.S. flag is there and what is that suppose to signify? Since when is that allowed and on the parkway of our city? I believe the store is Stefanellis. I was going to stop there but when I saw that----I decided no I would not do business with a store that put the foreign flag out on our parkway---never! Another sight that this city is allowing things to happen to it that it should not! There is no other community that allows that. Get a flag pole and put the American flag on it, but to put a foreign flag on the parkway is not suppose to be. Don't we have codes to follow in this city. Oh sure, come on and tell me it is ok. IT IS NOT OK. THIS IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THAT IS THE ONLY FLAG THAT WE HONOR HERE..WE ARE ALL AMERICANS!!!!!!!!! TRY THAT IN FRANKFORT OR A SURROUNDING TOWN AND THEY WOULD BE ON YOU IN A MINUTE. IT HAS BEEN OUT FOR MONTHS!!! AND DOES ANYONE CARE...YES, WE DO!

I must correct the fact that I am not sure about which store but it is near the above mentioned.

There is a flag code! It is very important to the U.S. Government that this be followed. The U.S. flag is always in a place of prominence. Other flags should be smaller and not on the parkway, just stuck in the ground. The U.S. flag code is one thing and important to our government, but our city should have a code in respect of our flag. It evidently is not being followed. I remember seeing another foreign flag in the southend of Lockport a while back stuck in the parkway by where they were selling cars. This is unforgivable! It is an insult to our flag!!!!

I don't care which store it is, all of the stores there have an obligation to see to it that the flag is honored. I do not know what store it is but they all clearly see it. There is a US flag code in the United States. Let's follow it!

I suggest you read the flag code of the United States of America!!!!! I fought for that flag and that flag only. No doubt you are not a veteran and do not know the rules!!!!! I will take a picture today of it! You can say what you want, you do not know the rules on the flag or you would not write what you did. No flag is suppose to be in front of the American flag. It is the greatest flag on earth and deserves PROMINENCE!!!!!

lOOK UP THE CODE AND YOU WILL KNOW THAT THE PERSON WHO STARTED THIS FORUM IS COMPLETELY CORRECT. TO ALL THE VETERANS IN OUR COMMUNITY, YOU SHOULD BE OUTRAGED! THE AMERICAN FLAG STANDS ALONE AND IS MUCH BIGGER THAN OTHER FLAGS. THERE ARE DISTINCT AND ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF RULES CONCERNING OUR FLAG. IT IS TO BE HONORED! IT IS TO BE PROMINENT! GO TRY TO PUT OTHER FLAGS IN ABRAHAM LINCOLN CEMETERY AND THEN TELL THEM ABOUT THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION, MY FRIEND. SEE HOW FAR YOU GET! YOU ARE BATTING ZERO!

I find this offensive http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/20...

But I'll defend his right under the First Amendment to make a fool of himself.

There's nothing in the Constitution that says that you have a right to not be offended.

I just got back from the offending store. I spent over $60 for top quality food. I hadn't been there in awhile.

There is nothing in the Constitution about federally mandated health care either but it doesn't mean there aren't laws now that ram it down our throats.

There are laws on how the flag is to be displayed. If the city receives a formal complaint (instead of noise on this site from irate bloggers) they would be obligated to have the owner abide by the law. With our current council and mayor I doubt they would do anything though.

Comments made by people are not the same as a United States flag code! I too am taking a picture of it and sending it to the proper people. Who cares what you spend and where. You are skirting the issue, as usual. It is wrong to display the U. S. Flag in an offensive manner!

I disagree with the person saying irate bloggers. I think it is the code guy's job to ride around and see the violations and report them. Why is it the resident's job. We have twenty blocks up and down and in a car you could do half the city in a day and the rest the next day. It seems to me that they want the names of who is complaining and not to fix the problem. It is apparent that it is a problem and that the owner of this flag should take the foreign flag down. It is the old PAST THE BUCK GAME!!!!!

FORMAL COMPLAINT?????? The law is the law when it comes to Our Flag!

I guarantee that Lockport doesn't have an ordinance regarding flags. I also submit to you that the Flag Code isn't a law. It is a code. Nobody gets arrested for breaking a law regarding the flying or placement of a flag.

The real issue here is those that believe that it is fine to take away someone's 1st Amendment right of free speech.

No one said anything about arresting anybody! You are twisting the facts. The Flag Code is the law of this land! You are wrong! Everybody is suppose to abide by the flag code. We will see! It has nothing to do with the first amendment rights and free speech. You do not dishonor or disrespect the flag by doing what you want with it. You are wrong. Talk and say what you want but DO NOT TWIST THIS. IT IS THE LAW OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. AND IF YOU ARE AN AMERICAN YOU BELIEVE IN IT!

Look man, I'm with you. But our city doesn't do anything on it's own. If it did we would have bustling development. If you're pissed, you are the one who is going to have to carry the ball on this.

Why don't you start by taking the flag code into Stephenllis (in a kind way) and ask them to honor the American tradition of flag display. I'm sure he is not trying to stick the Italian flag up your a88, most likely he doesn't know any better.

I am sending the photo to the proper place. And if Lockport does not do anything on their own, it is about time we replaced them! This is America be proud of it. I do not do Lockport code guy's work. If it is not a code of this city, it should be. Since when do the business owners do what they want. It is sure not the orders that downtown gets.
