In a honesty you people have no idea what really goes on with ROL Youth Foundation or Ivy League. ROL does not do drug testing for its employees. Further more the so-called Teachers do not have any teaching credentials, training or degrees. Most only have a high school diploma. As far as I know only Linda is certified in Montessori. Lydia only has a high school diploma and Tammy doesn't even have that. The company doesn't do background checks or reference checks. So for instance if someone stated that they attended a college and hold a degree in Childhood Education, ROL doesn't ask for transcipts or validate the info. The reason the owner does this is so she can pay the employees less than what an actual Montessori teacher makes. I urge any of you that has a child or children enrolled to remove them from ROL and file a complaint with the state.
This all sounds very illegal. If it's true the DCFS and State of IL should be called. Even saycare workers have to have backround checks and the DCFS checks transcripts on them as well.

by the way they are now out of business. I rented the facility from them. would never have put my kids there after dealing with the staff on a few occasions for parties in the gym. they are rediculous and the owner of the building kicked them out.

I can confirm that 95% of these posts are from isolated incidents. If you want to know anything, try things for yourselves instead of just reading an opinionated thread of comments and complaints. I can vouch that Linda and Lydia are both fully certified Montessori teachers who love their jobs and the children they work with. Ivy League was not "kicked out" of the building they rented. The lease had been expired for a few months and they decided not to continue on there on their own. Linda decided to come out of retirement in order to re-open the school simply because of her love for children and what she does. I have sat here laughing at all of these RIDICULOUS statements and the fact that people actually read things like this to aid in decision making. Unbelievable. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I am not bashing anyone who expressed a negative experience. However, to come on here and act like you know every in and out of Ivy League is pretty bold and completely untrue. To anyone reading this for information, I urge you to form your own opinion from your own experience. This program has continued to grow and expand because of the positive relationships between parents, children, and staff.

Recently, my 5 year old son attended New Lenox's Ivy League Montessori School as a before/after school program.
Last Friday, when my husband went to pick up my son, he was told that my son is not welcome back to their program. One of the two women who run the program, Ms. Linda, told my husband, "I don't know what type of Autism or Aspergers your son has but we are not able to handle HIS kind.". My husband was in complete shock.
When my husband called me at work, I was in disbelief. I had not been given any warning, no written documentation of any kind, no parent teacher conference, etc.
I called the head office in Mokena and asked to speak with the owner, Jackie, because I could not believe that they would want their school ran this way. I was advised that the owner was gone for the weekend and that they would have her call me as soon as possible. I explained the situation to the person in the office and they too were in shock that we were treated this way.
Itís been a little over a week now and I still have not heard from the owner.
I am insulted that a woman, who does not have a M.D. after her last name feels that she can freely diagnose my child with autism, aspergers, or any disorder for that matter. I am also shocked that the school is run in a manner where no warning, no written documentation, no parent teacher conference, etc is given to the parents. While I dropped off my son every morning, I was not advised there was any sort of problem. Nor was I given the opportunity to address any issues, etc. with my son to correct any behavior or problem they might have had.
I did however advise them when I signed up for the program, that my son has been diagnosed with sensory auditory processing problems and does see a Speech Pathologist and Occupational therapist.
I can't help but believe that they took the information I shared with them and decided they didn't want to have to "deal" with my son. Instead of being up front and advising us that they could only handle calm/quiet children, they decided to take our money for 6 weeks and then kick out my son without any warning.
I would not recommend this school to anyone. Not because my son was asked to leave, but because of how unprofessional the staff is who works there.
Labeling children when you have no education or degree to do so can be extremely damaging to a child.
Knowing your child goes to a school where the teachers are labeling children in front of other children is disgraceful.
I use to wonder why kids grew up to say hateful things or call each other hurtful names.
I NEVER thought hearing teachers label children incorrectly in front of other children would EVER be the reason.
Is this where you want your children going?
This was six years ago. Did the owner ever return your call? How can such a place behave in such an unprofessional manner and get away with it? As a parent myself, I would not of let this go unresolved, so what action did you take and what were the results?

i know this post is dead but i work there currently and actually the hiring process was more than you think. EYERYONE got a background check before getting hired, we had our fingerprints scanned and had to fill out a form for DCFS that notices them of who is working there. I can say the ethics and ways of teaching is not what it should be but the ivy league is an after and before school program not a classroom. We have different styles of teaching and different morals. i cannot speak on the montessori because i dont work there but the kids from there come to the after school program. They tell me they love it and i experience them first hand they love it there, i went there as a kid and what you guys are describing sounds true because it was hell for me.

Your command of the English language, typos, lack of appropriate capitalization and sentence structure are sorely lacking. I wouldn't want you teaching my dog to crap outside let alone my children.

My daughter has attended for over 6 months. She has attended the full day programs and the before and after school program at Kestra Elementary School. She adores the counselors. We moved here from a few states away and couldn't be happier! Thanks guys and gals for a safe place for our daughter.
