Not sure how much they will budge on the house but upgrades you might be able to bargain with them.

i looked at all the active new home places in manhattan and New Lenox.
i found by far the very best value with distinctive at butternut ridge.
there were a lot of problems in other developments in manhattan some even had SSAs which i found out are special service areas which is just a fancy term for an added tax of more than $3,000 a year on top of your regular tax bill.
Butternut does not have any SRAs and they have big homes with lots of upgrades for a really low price.
So, my wife and i bought one of distinctives biggest models and we are breaking ground very soon.

That is so funny. I can't believe someone would sink that low. We went to McDonnell Development in White Feather and were very pleased. We are breaking ground in two weeks and have met many of the neighbors. They have nothing but good things to say and we found them by driving around the subdivision.

The SSA is about 1800 a year over at Brookstone , Not over 3000. White feather doesn't have and SSA at all.

We were new to the area of Manhattan and looked thoroughly for a home to start our new family. McDonell Development happened to have a"spec" home available at the time we were looking. I would highly recommend not building with them. Our house is less than a year old and we have a leak in the ceiling and no one seems to care in terms of the developer. We have chipped tile, and a garbage paint job inside, rattling windows, cheap cabinets, our bathroom counters were installed poorly.... And the list goes on. The office lady is a doll, the developer not friendly or personable. Keep looking. We were first time home buyers and were so paranoid of getting screwed over because that seems to be the norm these days...we are extremely frustrated.

I moved in about 2 years ago. I could not be happier. The neighborhood has been perfect for our kids and the house has had zero problems. I know people are bound to have troubles but I obviously can only speak for myself.

If you really want to get info from the horses mouth, simply drive around the neighborhood and ask. I for one am always happy to talk to people asking questions.

Good luck!

First off there house are okay when i was shown around but the receptionist at their offices doesn't know what she was talking about I ask her about how long it would take to build a house she didn't know. I asked her about the high school our kids would go to she said Central and I didn't know if that was Lincoln-Way Central or Joliet Central. Then she seemed to get frustrated with the questions I had like I should know everything about the homes. If you are going to hire someone that doesn't know a lot then why should I waste my time at least hire someone that i want to go back and at least see but I'm wondering whether or not to go back in.

I know who you are talking about. She was filling in. She only helps out on weekends to hand out brochures. We met with her also. She is very kind. I can't see her getting frustrated with you. Maybe with herself because she didn't have an answer but the person who is there full time is very knowledgeable and busy. So she had someone come in to help her out. If you think their houses are just ok then you haven't seen the homes we looked at. They are beautiful. It's your choice whether to go back or not but judging from your post you shouldn't go back because you were only there once and you are slamming their reputation. I have only had positive experiences. I even drove around and talked to the neighbors. I also met the Superintendant. Just my input because I have been working with them on building my house and I've been in there often and seen how busy they are. Have you seen all of the houses going up?
