The tax rate in the village went up, period. The elected officials, Noak included, cling to the fact that the dollar amount didn't go up. The reason that happens is because they increase your rate while the value of your home drops. That way they get the same dollar amount from you. Stop hiding behind technicalities. The rest of the world had to learn to make do with less in this economic environment, maybe our elected officials should too.

The moderator at the debate listed the tax rates of surrounding communities and Romeovile was at least a full percentage point higher than any of them.

But let's all pretend that the village hasn't raised your taxes....I am sure they'll drop the rate once home values start to recover, right?

Check all those surrounding communities and you will see that not only did their rates also go up but so did the amount you actually pay. The fact that Romeoville has held the amount you pay level or in most cases less is an amazingly good thing. Guess what cost go up. Period. Things like Obamacare cost village's more money each year as well. Holding the line on the taxes means that they are actually providing the same services without more money actually with less of your property taxes.

Another thing that wasn't pointed out is that Romeoville's rate is different because Romeoville has both a Parks and Rec Department and a Fire Department unlike almost all those other communities mentioned. If you look at the TOTAL effective rate in those areas for the other taxing bodies it tells a far different story.

Get your facts straight before putting your BS out there.

To stop the BS... the taxes from Romeoville are nothing in comparison to all other entities like schools , county ,etc. Look at your tax bill. You're complaining to the wrong people. The Mayor doesn't control the price of houses , supply and demand does along with banks trying to unload houses cheap from people who bought a house with no money down and lost it. Yes , some of the house losses were due to loss of jobs that was unforseen but again not the Mayors fault. You should be note worried if Mongo gets elected. He has proven he is too much of a celebrity to grant any public discussion as not to create a media frenzy. What do we have to look forward to closed door board meetings so as not to give people any more attention than Mango believes you should get ? If you want to vote for Mongo , no one is going to be able to change your mind . But remember if he is elected Team Mongo will be responsible for all of us in Romeoville and I don't know if down the road even you'll be happy about that....if you want the Village to move backward vote Mongo , if you want the Village to move into the future and get better... Vote for Noak !

Yes I have a job , actually a very good job. Never met Noak personally but saw him speak at debate and have seen him at Village meetings., etc. Impresses me and I like how the Village is run. No complaints , I'm smart enough to know that sometimes things might not be a benefit to me but could be a benefit to others. It's not all what I get , it's how things end up that counts. As long as the Village moves forward , I'm happy......I may not benefit on every issue but that's life.....I can deal with it ! No one will every please everyone.....it's a give and take thing. Just because it doesn't benefit you....does that make if bad ? I don't really benefit from the schools , yet I have to pay taxes.....it's just how things are in life. You want to be angry about everything that doesn't benefit you....then you're going to be angry a lot. Life's too short , vote for John Noak and be happy !

They raised taxes. It costs more to buy things in the ville now. Because of higher taxes. Richard Love at the debate was the only one to point this out.

Clueless again. The sales tax in most of the communities in the are went up. And guess what over 60% of all the sales tax paid in Romeoville comes from NON-Romeoville residents. So that means that people from other communities are paying more of the cost for our services. This is a GOOD thing.
