It was also once a Kualla Restaurant and Lounge too (in 1994):
According to this, the address IS 1026 S. State. That IS odd. And in both pictures (this one and the one in the link in the post above) the bottom fašade looks different both from eachother and how it looks now.

Another thing I found is a bunch "for Rent" ads,(all last updated this past April) which state the rent is only $10.00! It is MLS#08588286 It was built in 1920 and the property taxes are only $4000./yr (??) It's a 2-story (obviously) approximately 5,000-6,000 sq feet & has steam heat (so, radiators). In this Picture it is closer to how it looks right now, except that right now, the window on the right (if you are facing the building) is boarded up and painted white:

In this picture you can just barely make out some lettering in the brick just above the door, but I can't figure out what it is.....could be the last word is "sports", but I'm not positive (anybody else know??):

According to a sale history I sold in April 2005 for $350,000. and in July 2006 for $450,000. There was a mechanic's lien on it in December 2010 for less than $20,000.

It was also a Las Fuentes Restaurant at one time, not sure when.

It was also once an "Over There Sports bar"......probably what the unclear letters in the brick above the door once were!

From what I know its last incantation was going to be a micro-distillery. Ambitiously lofty for downtown Lockport I might add. Construction began and from what I hear it became a money pit just to get the building close to code and the city wouldn't help out in anyway. So they packed up and took there business to Plainfield. They had a tasting of their wares at the Wine Bar awhile back and I spoke with the owners who basically telegraphed that it was the best thing that ever happened to them that they didn't set up shop in Lockport.

Decent place to eat 24 hrs a day back in the early 1990's. Some truck drivers from West Chicago had the basement bar around 2005 and was a cool place for a beer. I would go across the street have a pitcher with the War Vet that owned the bowling alley before that went up in flames also. Trip around the corner to Carters place for open mic blues on Wednesday. They burnt it all or forced them out of business with no end game to replace them. I don't buy the coincidence, not in this county.
